Vintage zenith

I bought this vintage zenith a couple of years ago..still amazes me how thin and flat this case is and how much fun it is to wind this 12-p movement..definitely one of my best vintage pieces..the lugs kind of look like vampire fangs and wears bigger than 35mm...this one is a keeper for sure

You are quick to use the Bat Signal.

That's so beautiful. I just wish vintage watches weren't so small.  I'm getting bigger by the year and I need my watches to keep up!

The movement serial would help. The cal. 12-4-P series was produced in the late 1930s-early 1940s, if I recall correctly, and later was replaced by cal.126. The star on the dial would be uncommon for that period, but then again, Zenith was known to use old stocks of movements years after they were made.

Seriously does anyone know why most modern manufacturers can't make lugs that swoop down in a useful way like this? My first guess is that it costs money and my second is that they are ultimately more delicate and durability has been chosen over comfort and decent looks.

Enicar used to make lugs in a similar style. When you peruse hundreds, maybe thousands, of watches put up for sale you notice that Enicar has more broken lugs than the next three brands combined.  Case and lug design changed in the mid-1960's in ways that made broken lugs fairly rare.

Zenith is all fun and games until you need to service it ( in the US ) .. After sales service of Zenith sucks big time.

Any Zenith service provider that you'd recommend?

Does anyone know a good vintage Zenith watch maker? I'm getting a vintage Zenith soon, and as much as I like my watch maker, he's more of an Omega guy, and I'd like to send a vintage Zenith to a Zenith specialist if I can.

In the US there is no choice but ship it out to their service center in NJ. If your watch is running fine don’t send it there.

What's wrong with the service center?..are they expensive?

You run the risk of them damaging your watch. Zenith US service center is dogshit
