Just as Polonius said.

NB. You will have to read my previous post to understand this one:

A few days didn’t change my father-in-law’s mind and today I returned the jingly jangly Jubilee bracelet to his Datejust. I failed to rekindle his love for watches but I did earn his thanks - he didn’t want the beautiful straps I bought to go to waste and returned them to someone who would actually use them, me. It was an unspoken exchange - I knew he meant well - they were returned out of kindness. Japanese is a very high context language, and a lot goes unsaid. I gave him one of my unused watch boxes to better store his Datejust. I hope one day I’ll get the box back- with the Datejust still in it! 😚Until that day! 🍻

Overall, not the desired result of my heartfelt early Father’s Day gift, but these straps have a story now. I put them on the Murph - which again proves to be a chameleon, changing in look and feel immensely. I refuse to look at these straps in bitterness - instead I choose for them to remind me of what Polonius said to his son,

to thine own self be true.”🍻

Interesting story and the strap is simply awesome.

A nice story and a nice outcome. Thanks.

And I love the Murph!

Nice watch!

The strap traveled full circle, which is a nice thought 🤙❤️

My Asian parents had similar stories. They are often so used to self sacrifice that it's become ingrained. But it was a beautiful gesture.
