How to Not Get Tired of Your Favorite or Grail

I used to read so many watch articles that delved so mentally deep into watches. I never understood why or how people could do that. I always thought that it's just a watch. You like how it looks, put it on, wear it. That's it, nothing more.

I was wrong. I caught myself doing the same thing. I caught my self thinking about why I don't wear my most favorite watches more often. It was buried in the depths of my brain subliminally. One of my personalities told another personality why, out loud, and I heard it. LOL 😂

Festina Chrono Bike my 3rd most favorite. It used to be my 2nd. The Christopher Ward is now #2.

I was subliminally telling myself not to wear my favorites all of the time. I wear them once a week, month, or every other week, month. In between I wear something I like not love. After wearing nice but not favorite nice during that time makes putting a favorite on special. It's almost like putting on a new one every time. To look down at it on my wrist raises my excitement level to an ecstasy feel. I wow myself every time.

Sector 650 Automatic from the No Limits Collection. Watch #1. My most favorite. Look at that Sector dial. Wow!

There you have it folks. Don't wear your favorites all of the time. It will take the love away. Space the wearing times out. Wear mediocre nice watches in between. This will especially help when you don't have the finances to buy another favorite or grail. This may not work for you but it does for me.

I often choose not to wear my favorite watches to instead don a less-desired one because…anthropomorphically…I feel badly it’s been sitting in the back of the drawer. Silliness abounds!

Yep! I have plenty from which to choose and wear a different one every day. I can go months without repeating if I wanted to, but usually in a couple of weeks I'll wear a favorite again, then continue with the rest. Keeps it fresh, like you pointed out.

I'm am fortunate to have a "favourite" watch for most occasions. This does mean some watches don't get much wrist time, my dress watch and my true diver watch for example but when I put a watch on I can confidently say there's nothing I would rather be wearing.

I am in the same boat as you. I can wear a different watch every day for a couple of years. 😂 I still have to wear a favorite here and there.

This is a great point. My nicest watch is an Alpinist, and I have been wearing it almost every day since I got it a year ago. But J do get bored of it and start wondering how i can top it. But I've just been away for a week and worn a cheaper watch throughout, so I'm sure seeing the alpinist will feel very fresh

I'm the exact opposite. I wear my favourite watches far more than the rest.

I've worn my Air King 27 times since collecting it on 3 Jan this year. My most worn watch of 2023: the Zulu Time is next, then the Longines Master Collection rounds out the top 3.

I use the WatcheePro app to randomly select one of my watches each morning. With nearly 60 watches, I don’t really ever get tired of them. LOL

I never heard of that app. If I have to manually put them in, that will take me forever. I have way more than you my friend. 😂

LOL. It took me a long time, but it was worth it.

It may be but what if it selects a watch I don't feel like wearing? 😂 Every day is different for me.

It has an option to tell it to select a different one at random if you’re not feeling the initial one it chose.

That might work then. Is it in the play store?

I never really thought about my favourites in this way but it's so true! Guess I do the same thing without realizing 😅🍻
