Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Like every kid from the 80s I grew up obsessed with Casio. As much as I have come to enjoy and appreciate enthusiast and luxury level watches, I still find myself collecting and wearing more G-Shocks than any other watch.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

My first watches were the ones you would get with value meals at fast food joints. The first proper watch that I saved up for and purchased for myself was a Casio G-Shock DW6900. This is still my favorite watch model and I own multiple special edition versions of it with the Bamford being my favorite and most worn.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I am sad to say I misplaced the G-Shock I was wearing when my daughter was born and I held her for the first time however that sadness is somewhat made up for by having the watch my father was wearing when my daughter was born and he held her for the first time which although a cheap Timex (all my dad has ever worn) is my most cherished watch of my collection. UPDATE: I recently found the g shock I wore when I first held my daughter! Needs a fresh battery and will post a shot of it soon…

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Don’t buy hype pieces unless you genuinely like them. Stick to what you appreciate and will enjoy wearing.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Tudor. In a world where Rolex theft is out of control I feel much better about sporting a Tudor around town on a regular basis and they continue to come out with quality new releases adding variety to their lineup.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Grail watches change over time but I am currently saving up to buy my first Rolex. I would like to acquire a polar white dial Explorer II from my birth year, 1987. For many years I can remember my father wearing a Timex made to look extremely similar to the polar white Rolex and I promised myself one day I would buy one for myself to keep beside my father’s old Timex which still sits proudly in my watch box.
