Hot Take: Watchfinder Videos Are Not What They Used To Be

Does anyone think the format of new Watchfinder videos are less compelling and/or interesting than they used to be?

Do they seem more and more clickbait lists of "did you know", "Every collector must...", and "The Best xyz...". Instead of the old deep dives with a focus on micro shots of the watches and of course the talking hands.

I get this may be due to the YouTube Algorithm - but, for me, still a noticable and lamenteble trend.

Thoughts?

*Watches for visual hook. 😁

Seems OK to me. I like that channel.

Tudor is fantastic 👌

I totally agree with you. The videos have been going downhill of late; I have even downthumbed some! At least Max Watch Crunch and ID guy still produce good and informative videos!

Agreed. Way better when it was a few seconds of talking hands followed by only sublimely shot macro and excellently scripted voice-over.

My hunch is that Andrew has realised how important he is to Watchfinder videos and is insisting that he's more than just talking hands. See also his own channel.

I miss the old format too. Like little doses of serenity.

Yea, blame Nico. He told them how to work the algorithm and it’s a race to the bottom ever since.

I generally agree, but I absolutely love the banter between Andrew and Tom and it’s nice to see their faces. Mixing some of the old stuff back in would be great.

I agree - love the banter and the back and forth chat. It’s great fun.

The subjects are mostly ok but yes - somewhat clickbaity. But I do think I OD’d a bit on the old format so had to take an indefinite break 😅😅

I like the channel and the videos but I disagree with anyone that says you must own xyz as no one needs to own anything, we just might want to.

Yeah. But also I think it would help if he shaved and dressed up a little nicer? Like no need to see the ratty undershirt. Watchfinder and Teddy B were always in my feed, and there’s a big contrast there. Something about discussing luxury items lends itself to being a bit more presentable imo.
