Think I might have settled on a Speedmaster
I’ve been researching speedies for a while now and trying to figure out if I just think omnipresent love and hype over the moonwatch is a turn off for me (and the fact that I just had zero love for the standard speedy pro) or if I just needed to find the right reference/variation that actually made me want to pull the trigger, that fit my life and personality etc.
I like layers of meaning and quirk and want my watches to be a tad different. So, I think I’ve settled (maybe) on two moonphase speedies. Of course the dream would be a smiling moon but those are exceedingly rare and probably over my budget, so here are two . . . Obviously one is closer in appearance to the typical speedy pro.

Fortunately for me a lot of people overlook it, so the price is pretty decent 😆 And while it wasn’t limited, production was only for a few years so it’s relatively rare.
Had one in my hand yesterday. The blue is remarkable.
The problem with broad hands is that, on a dial that busy with details, the ends obscure information. Really consider this as you weigh your purchase. The more I look at speedies with broad hands, the more I feel like this is an insurmountable issue for me. It’s true of other watches also. But I noticed it first on the speedy. Now, I won’t consider a watch with a busy dial (especially chronographs) with anything but baton style hands.
I would definitely go for the the Blue and Cream Broad Arrow. Unique, classy and rare.

Yeah, I had noticed that but think I’m ultimately okay with it. Will mull over more . . . But I’m not trying to get the lunar capsule back to Earth or anything, so 😂
I'd go broad-arrow white if choosing between these two. Either one is quite nice.
