Collecting Philosophy: Double Dip or Variety is the Spice of Life?

Are you the type of person who repeats brands in their watch box or do you feel like you need to share the love and experience as many brands as possible (while of course being responsible . . . whatever that means for you). I imagine this will vary quite a bit esp. depending on watch collection size, how expensive you tend to buy and other factors.

I'm all about whatever speaks to me. I'm neither a brand slave nor am I averse to having multiple watches from one brand.

Basically whatever floats my boat.

Fully agree! Doesn‘t matter if I own the brand already, would still go for it if the model would suite me. And on the other hand: if the watches I would like were from one brand, I again would go for it… So, it is more the model and what you want rather than diversification or concentration.

I usually look at or buy a couple from specific brands. But whatever is out there that interests me is what I go for.

I am one of these people who only buys one watch from each brand.

There's no real strong reason I decided to do that but I do have a hard 12 watch maximum rule, and I like that it forces me to do a bunch of research and choose the "best" model in a watch brand's catalog

Typically one from each brand as I want to experience what they each have to offer. The only exception is Seiko 😉

For me it's all about the looks of the watch, provided it's a fairly original design.

The only way that brand comes into it is if I feel that the watch is priced with a massive brand premium which I'm not usually willing to pay .

I am finding it fascinating that I am buying what speaks to me, and I am finding certain brands emerging as preferences of mine!

·

You can do both

I buy what yanks that chain. I'm sticking to a couple of brands now.

·

I don't see any upside to limiting your choices in that way.

Currently have 13 watches in my collection. Only two are from one brand.
