Am I mad?

I’ve got a small collection of watches, but for my proper watches (not fun watches like Swatch/Casio) I’m finding I wear them less due to owning the Pelagos 39.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the watches I’ve got but just find the wearability of the Pelagos to be leaps and bounds above anything stainless steel.

So my question is, would I be mad to reduce my collection down to just the 39?

Would I regret it?

There's nothing wrong with wearing one watch everyday. For 12+ years, I wore an Omega Seamaster everyday. It sure made life easier. The size and color of the Peli goes with many activities and functions. Enjoy it. No guilt.

As long as the others come into rotation occasionally, they are serving a purpose in your collection.

Since I bought my P39 I’ve been wearing it daily. Personally ,I can’t see giving up my other watches for it and the Casios well, they always have place. They’ll never go.

Thin 'em out, but keep a couple at least.

I got my Grail 3 years ago and I still have to make a conscious effort not to wear it continuously, because I want it to always feel special, like a treat.

Also saves on wear & tear.

I you have to reduce, do it one watch at a time.

There are two questions and only one answer field. So: Selling all "proper" watches for not wearing them is rational, but you might regret it after some time.

·

Sell them and reinvest into new watches that give you the same feeling as the P39. No point keeping things you no longer feel for just because.

Out of those watches, I'd keep the Carrera, the tank looking one and a Casio in addition to your Pelagos if downsizing.

You'll need a watch when it goes for servicing (Carrera), the tank looking one is dressy enough, and the Casio for beating on with manual labor.

Only you know. Could be the honeymoon phase with the 39, or it could be you are lucky and that’s all you’ll ever need / want.

How are we supposed to know what you may or may not regret? Is the Pelagos your newest watch? Are you wearing it all the time because you are still in the honeymoon phase with it, or do you find yourself choosing it over newer watches in your collection?

Nothing wrong with a one watch collection.

If you are like most of us, the itch will eventually get back on you and that one watch will become 2, then 3, then 5 and so forth.

Lather, rinse, repeat...

It is my newest watch, I've owned it since April '23. I think it comes down to the weight and the ability to adjust it on the go, whereas I find some of other bracelets a bit tight after a while.

So, the Pelagos IS a proper watch, huh?
