Texas Timepiece- do you buy watches from where you’re from?

Wearing Roebuck Watch Company out of Texas today. Does anyone else buy a watch from where it’s from or from where they’re from?

Interesting design! I like the reference to the metal roofs of the region, which is certainly a unique selling point.

I've made geographically-based purchases before, for sure, even if they start getting a little abstracted: One each from Australia and New Zealand which both made reference to specific aspects of place; one from Ohio, partly as an expression of Midwestern pride; a Swiss railway style watch to remind me of similar clocks I saw while in Norway; and a bunch of vintage Soviet-era pieces, out of interest in that system/era.

But possibly the most meaningful connection has been one I made for myself, by associating my asphalt-evoking Zelos Aurora with the cities and towns I explore by foot, searching for photographs.

I have an RGM which is close; I live in Canada, and RGM is in Pennsylvania so I consider that at least proximal!

As a one-time Houstonian, I reckon you could wear a Speedmaster Professional as a bone fide Houston watch given Johnson Space Center is such a core part of the city's history and identity.

I'm fond of this very London watch. Both because of the W1 postcode on the dial (subtle snobbery there) and because J.W.Benson were Queen Victoria's watchmaker.

I have a couple of watches from a local company in my state, it’s a little loose how much they count though. Timex is not really a microbrand, and my models are definitely not made stateside.

Farer are based about 15 minutes from my house. I own three.

Is the chapter ring misaligned, or is it a rotating bezel?

No one makes watches where I live unfortunately in New South Wales that I know of ( please correct me if I am wrong any Aussies out there ) Am aware of Melbourne watch Co btw…

·

Beaucroft watches are based in Cambridge, I'm in Fenland so that great University City is only half hour bike ride away.

Not got one yet, but the owner is a fellow Cruncher so I'll pop in & get one when I can get the time off work .

Cool idea for a post 👍🏻👍🏻

Yes! I bought my two Bremonts precisely due to the proximity of my family home to the HQ in Henley!

The name doesn't live up to the expectation...the watches aren't ugly!😊

've considered buying a watch from Ball given their heritage and origin in Ohio but have not found thr right watch yet. Love the story and the tag line"get on the ball". I always thought it was sport reference, but I understand it was in reference to the Ball watch and that they were always accurate!
