Making the best of a delayed flight

I had two flights today, the first one got delayed and because of it I lost my connection, they put us in another flight several hours later, so I had lots of time to kill and to my surprise London Heathrow’s domestic airport has TONS of watches. So here’s a few that I had never seen before or had the chance to put on (Chile’s watch scene is scarce at best):

I’ve been lusting after the BB GMT for years, but once I tried it on, I was a bit underwhelmed.

Sooo many Seikos, I especially loved the SPB143, but after seen the new Prospex Diver GMT through a window, I’m totally convinced that it’s the one for me.

I also got to try on some Grand Seikos:

Both are incredible, but way out of my budget.

And speaking about out of budget:

One can only dream, right?

Anyway, I’m finally about to board, cheers crunchers!

Have a safe flight and thanks for showing us some incredible watches! 🤙❤️

·

I'm jealous! A way better use of a delay than sleeping on the grimey carpet at O'Hare during white out conditions.👍

·

Great way to spend some time

·

Cocktails and watch shopping. It’s a perfect day! Safe travels.

·

What a wonderful opportunity. Start saving up.

·

You turned a delay and a lost connection from something bad into something awesome.

The Grand Seikos really make me want to save up to get them, hopefully I can restrain myself for a looooooong while 😅

Your luggage was delivered correctly? God is merciful as always! 😂

Now that's what I call lucky! Watches AND martini's?! Yes please!

Hahah yes! I thought so too! It compensated losing half a day of holiday in Edinburgh

·

Looks like time well spent. I am almost jealous of a flight delay - and I never thought I would say that!

Safe travels and good luck saving up for all of those!

So...just humor me here...I'm really just trying to understand.

If I want to buy a beautiful and genuine Grand Seiko or even a JLC watch, I have 3 options:

  1. Get to know an AD, spending a lot of time doing so

  2. Go to a reputable auction

  3. Book a flight to...Timbuktu, via London Heathrow, spend some money, forget about going to Timbuktu and just fly back home with a genuine new premium high-value watch??

(I'm not trying to hijack your post by changing the subject. It's just that this question jumped out at me as soon as I read your post.)

·

Hell, forget actually going anywhere. I could just take a flight to Heathrow, stay long enough to shop around, then fly back home with a brand new luxury watch??

London Heathrow airport will be my AD when I save up enough to buy a Grand Seiko! 😎

No joke, I went to the Rolex Boutique and overheard a guy inquiring about a GMT and chatting about watches, the AD ended the conversation with a “thanks for stopping by, see you next week” 😂😂

Hahahah totally, if you’re in Paris, Le Bon Marche also had a lot of cool pieces readily available, if you’re booking a flight might as well spend a few days in town hahaha

Last time I was in London (Before COVID), they did not have much to browse in the International Terminal. They had Rotary watches is what I remember.

·

Just letting my imagination have some fun...

Hey honey, I wanted to book that restaurant for our anniversary, but there's like a 6-month waitlist. So I was thinking, let's go to London Heathrow Airport to eat at the Michelin 3-star restaurant in <insert terminal name here>.

Then we'll buy that Grand Seiko you've been wanting for a while, and we'll fly back home, in time for a good night's rest before work the next day!

Well, darling, I was thinking more of dining and shopping in...Paris. But sure, London Heathrow sounds good to me!

😜

I’m here again, I was wrong it’s the international terminal 5, my mistake

It is still hit & miss in international terminals around the world for watches. Some AD have closed shop and won't be back. I guess they will change their mind when travelers have reached the pre-covid levels.
