New Bulova Surveyor

This is a watch I traded for on WatchUSeek. These came out back in January and I was intrigued with the green color way. I got a chance to trade away a watch I didn’t like and get this one and a little cash back.

Love the size, it’s a perfect for me 39mm diameter, less than 12mm thick and a great 46mm lug to lug. It should also be a strap monster with the 20mm lug spacing.

Got to admit I’m not crazy about the supplied strap and I’m currently shopping for something different. I put it on a two-piece nylon and it’s better but still not what I’m wanting. If you’ve got a specific strap recommendation, please post it below. It’s also amazing how the green changes in different lighting.

On first impressions, the watch seems to punch well above its $425 list price. It’s my first Bulova but I don’t think it’s going to be my last.

It's a great looking watch. Love the dial color, maybe a light tan leather or suede strap. You could also push the green with a green ostrich or suede strap

Great pick up 👏

·

Love the dial! That minute track is amazing. Great pickup!

·

Love that green ✅

·

Does that have the smooth sweeping seconds hand? Looks great, agree bulova bracelets need some work

·

Wow! I love that.

No, it’s a mechanical. Not sure of the bph but you can definitely see it beat.

Alcantara suade in light tan like whats on a Laurent Ferrier would work well

Reminds me of the defy revival a little. Super cool dial!

Love that green. I have an older surveyor that's a day date but that's really nice.

I like this new Surveyor release by Bulova! But obviously I do because I recently bought a Jet Star which looks nearly identical. Now of course the Jet Star is a different model, with it's quartz Precisionist movement and the associated delicious sweeping seconds hand. But I swear the Jet Star and new Surveyor share cases. The overall shape looks identical to me although the Jet Star is listed as a 40mm case vs the Surveyor's 39mm. But both have a 20mm lug width. I've been curious about the case compatibility because my Jet Star also came with a leather strap and although it's perfectly serviceable, I found it kinda boring as compared to the rest of the watch. It's fine on the leather and probably better for dressier occasions but I also have been experimenting with other straps. And I was considering buying the bracelet that other Jet Star models have but when I saw the Surveyor I like that bracelet more...I'm just not sure if it's truly compatible with the Jet Star.

Now if you're interested I currently put my Jet Star on a patterned rubber strap with curved ends that fit up to the case that I actually bought for another watch off of Amazon. Tight fit but it works and I think it looks nice. Since it worked I actually ordered a leather strap with similar curved ends to test next which I'm waiting on.

You might want to give this a try, easy enough to find on Amazon.

I have 3 Bulovas. Could this be mi 4th? It looks great. Congratulations!!!

·

That’s nice!!

·

Love the green 💴 👍🏻

·

This would be amazing with a grey stingray strap!

·

Awesome find , the green 💚 is an amazing hue

I just picked up this watch and so far I’m loving it. Although not a high accuracy quartz, this surveyor has a Miyota 8215 automatic movement beating at 3Hz, a reliable workhorse auto movement. It is the beautiful dial, whose color is described as pistachio green, that sets this watch apart.

I’m a big fan of Bulova. This watch, along with the 262kHz Lunar Pilot and Sea King, hold prominent spots in my collection.

It's undoubtedly a nice watch. I was attracted to that "pistachio green" dial one as well. The Urban Gentry made a comprehensive video on this release.

Great find! That green dial is stunning. I like how they modernized the Surveyor line, I found the previous models pretty generic, but the new ones have a nice design language.

I have a red Jet Star and yes, the case is quite similar, with some differences, for example the sides are cut differently, and there's more polish on the Surveyor side vs vertical brushing on the Jet Star.

Brown leather of all kind, even faux croc, should work well with the green dial. Obviously black can't be wrong. Since the dial is vibrant and it is better that the strap does not try to steal the show with gloss or too loud details.

I have a brown Horween ordered for it and I plan to restitch the off white accents with a green to match the dial of the watch.

Got the strap, now, all I need to do is find the correct color green thread.

I'd love to see a side by side of the Jetstar and new Surveyor.. as I've spotted the similarity to. You have the Jetstar I want! More low key than the others!

The color way of Jet Star I have is not currently available in the US. I purchased and imported from an Italian online retailer. As mentioned I would like to see a side by side of the two models as well. But really I'd just like to know if the Surveyor bracelet will fit with the Jet Star.

Bulova has something going with both of these models. This is one of cases where personally I'll choose the quartz over the automatic mechanical movement. I really like the Precionist movement and the captivating sweep.

Luckily that colourway is also available in Australia....
