Need help with casio restoration: Calling G shock Connoisseurs

So my daughters grandfather is an OG casio wearer he wore the Original G shock throughout his kids lives and when he saw mine he started to reminisce, either way he told me he had the same watch from the 80's and I asked him whey he didn't wear it anymore.

Resin rot, here is the piece still fully functioning and 28 years old he did contact casio but apparently you can't get he cases for these anymore not from them anyway... this is where I thought i would come to you guys to see if we could help this old chap out. A resin replacement case or better yet maybe even a steel one. Anyone know where I can pick one up that would fit right? I know over time the sizes changed slightly, i believe the OG model is the dw5200.

Apparently I inspired him to dust off his old casios...

bonus who knows what this one is?

Cheers!

It‘d be nice to restore an original, but maybe for the price and how hard it will be to find a case, it’s worth getting him a modern G-Shock 5000 series Instead. Just a thought.

Hmm to be fair I suppose you aren't wrong there

Look I can appreciate that you would love to restore the watch back to its former glory for the chap, he’s not much older than me so I definitely wouldn’t like to call him old 🤣

But I think your going to struggle to get any replacement parts, unless you scoured eBay or elsewhere for maybe a non working one or one second hand that you could use.

Other than that I would look for a new one that is as close as possible to his original watch and buy him that one. It sounds like he would definitely appreciate whatever you choose to do 🙏🏻

I think you guys are right, I might get him a new g shock and a glass display case for his memories.

Now that sounds great 👍  I’m sure he would appreciate that, especially the display case for his old watch, would look cool 😎

I wish I had answers on this, and am curious to see what others have to say. This is all sorts of awesome! Casio for the win!
