Vacation: Ambient Temperature and accuracy

So i have been here in Ghana about 1.5 weeks and I’ve noticed something… my watches are more accurate! Generally in the uk i was getting a variance of about +3 a day but since being here I’ve Had +6 in a week, it started out at +3 and just seemed to slow down to about +1, i brought a second Seiko which i gifted to my sister but i checked that to and that has also seemed to settle to +10 in 4 days and just kind stayed there. Ambient temp is around 28ºc. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

You're gonna need to move there permanently now!

I really don't pay such attention, but I'd assume that they are regulated at room temperature.

interesting i would have thought it a fluke but 2 watches seems unlikely to be a fluke, but yes in the uk high variance in temp inside and outside/over the course of the day.

You’ve given me quite a lot to think about

I am merely speculating, but I think it actually may have more to do with elevation. Your watch sits on your wrist which means the movement is actually always close to your body temperature regardless of where you are. Your body temp does not vary as wildly as the weather temp (unless you're a fan of frostbite or heat strokes).

The elevation however would mean there is a different gravitational pull your movement is experiencing which could affect its ability to move. Similar to how accuracy changes based on the position of your watch.

I'm not sure how true this is tbh, I've not tested it or researched it, it's just my hypothesis. You may be able to do a crude test if you go on a long flight, just see if you can measure a noticeable change in accuracy during flight time.
