The first watch I recall owning was a two-tone quartz Timex, which I think I purchased around the age of 12 and wore right up until I graduated high school. My first "real" watch as I began exploring the hobby (read: devolved into manic obsession) was a Spinnaker Hull California dial.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Not one that springs to mind immediately, however there's always the possibility that something could spontaneously fall into my watch box!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Try on as many watches as you can, and buy what YOU like! It's easy to be influenced early on in your horological journey by social media, hype pieces, and the opinions of others. Yes, certain watches can provide more value at various price tiers than others, but that perceived value is worthless if you don't actually enjoy the piece that you're purchasing.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
I'm constantly looking for new brands not on my radar to discover. The flavor of the week at the time of writing has been exploring the offerings from Zenith and studying the current collections. I also finally took a good hard look at Nodus and am really impressed with their models!
