Vulcain Nautique : My new watch purchase and my search for the right skindiver for me

Hi everybody,

Absolutely in love with my new watch 😊

I had the bad idea to have a visit at my local AD yesterday and tried on different watches that were on my radar. I knew that on paper the vulcain was the perfect watch for me and I had an eye on it since it was released …but I didn’t expect to like it that much. I just purchased it on the spot and couldn’t be happier.

I already own some nice watches and was looking for a nice slim, vintage sized NO DATE! skindiver under 2k for weekends and situations were I just don’t want to wear expensive watches ( on holiday, at a concert, barbecue). I had other brands under my radar , like squale, Oris, or Wolbrook, but this one won me over. I am very very impressed by build quality and finishing of the watch (especially that polished bevel on an otherly completely brushed case). As I understand , the movement is not exceptional ( eta 2824) but reliable and easily servicable. Trying different straps, natos since yesterday, and I must say it pairs really well with most of them.

As I said, I have some nice watches ( explorer, black bay, speedmaster) and I am very surprised about how much I get from this watch for the price. Honestly, my Spb143 feels “cheap” in comparison and might leave the collection

Don’t think so. Oddly sorry only leather band

Looking good! I have this one on my list somewhere. I think Guillaume is doing a fantastic job with all these resurrections.

Looking great!

Pair it with an Artem strap - waterproof sailcloth that you can swim dive with it.

I think the eta 2824 is exceptional - it is a work horse movement it just goes and goes, it can take a beating, the shocks the bumps etc - and if something goes wrong - no matter where in the world you are any reputable watch shop can fix it and get parts - it is so ubiquitous - that Sellita & Soprod have their exact clones - SW200 & P024

You are right about the 2824 👍

I happen to own an artem strap….it just looks fantastic and adds a premium feel to the watch 😍

Lovely watch! In what way does the vulcain make the Spb143 feel cheap?

·

Better movement, better finishing, brushing is on another level…I would rather compare the vulcain to watches in 2-3 k range

That’s really cool thank you . I preordered one a couple of days ago. Can’t wait! How would you compare the bezel action on the vulcain to the Seikos?

It is aligned 🤣

But seriously, both feel great

Hi Perudo, somehow missed your post at the time! I'm really interested in this model but no way to try before I buy in the UK. Can you tell me 3 months on if you've had any issues with the skin diver? Especially anything with the crown action or any concerns a would-be buyer should be aware of? Thanks.

Hy,

No issues to report so far, and the watch still gets a lot of wrist presence.

Actually I am on holiday right now and only took the vulcain with me. Been on the beach, in the water, snorkeling all week with the nautique on my wrist
