Who is also enjoying the fun of sundials?

I have since 7 years a sundial-ring from Nomos Glashütte (yes the ones with the Bauhaus watches) and I love it. If you think mechanical watches are old school, then you haven't discovered sundials. They are very inconvenient, if there is no clear sunshine, you cannot read the time. They are also adjusted to a certain latitude (in this case the one of Glashütte), so if I am in New York or Cape town I have to adjust it first. But reading at a nice sunny day the approx. time is awesome. I am always happy to see that it works :)

The photo was shot at 16:15 in Berlin, so it bit north of Glashütte.

Do you also have sundials?

You have to turn the ring on the month, currently of second half of "M" March. Then you hold it in the sun and you can see the sun/light dot on the inner ring. There is the dot now between 4 and 5 but close to the 4. Making a photo of it was really hard, in real life it is more distinctive.

Very nice watch! I've always been a fan although I don't like the brown strap it comes with. This milanese bracelet looks like a great solution for it

What is this "Sun" you talk about?I'm Welsh and I think I remember seeing a yellow circle in the sky once when I was a child. Is that it? 🤔

I was twelve before I realised I could take my raincoat off

I have 3 different versions of that. Your latitude has to be factored into the use of those along with the month. most are made in Grease with their latitude. I'm going to make a couple using marbles and the lens effect they have. My latitude is 55 deg.

I don't have a sundial but I do have a signpost in my garden that points in the precise direction (via Great Circle Route) to Berlin.  This is where one of my sons lives. The signpost indicates that my son's home is in the direction 47degrees West of North and 16,061km from my home.
