Opinion on modern integrated watches?

Is the trend about integrated watches still ongoing?

Do you like more the new designs or the ones with historical references?

I am since approx. a year into integrated steel watches, but not in the typical suspects. I am into the new kids on the block, the ones without the connection to historical models or the ones that are in constant production since the 70s.

At first I don’t like date windows and finding a 70s design watch w/o date is nearly impossible and then are the proportions not right for me on the most watches (Nautilus, Overseas, Ingenieur, Royal Oak, Laureato, PRX, etc) They have mostly pronounced bezels and to small dials, like a old house which doesn’t let much light in.

The new designs as from Moser, Parmigiani, Lange, Bulgari, Czapek or Louis Vuitton set the focus more on the dial. They are brighter and friendlier, like a new house with large windows.

So I am happy with the Streamliner and the Tonda PF. I have no interest in a Nautilus, RO or Ingenieur…

Note: it is always my wrist on the pics, but the most watches in this post are not mine, sadly…

Not a fan of integrated bracelets.

If I can't easily swap out straps I won't buy the watch.

·

I’ve seen the Bulgari on leather and bracelet. The integrated bracelet looks much better. The Moser is stunning in person. As for the others, I’ve tried several and it depends on taste. I have a Grand Seiko that came on an integrated bracelet, but I like it better on a strap.

It’s easy to change and try yourself.

·

I think they have their place in a collection as something different when the mood takes but I wouldn’t want it as my only watch 👍🏻

·

They are beautiful.

·

I like them. Swapping straps is not necessary for every watch. It's something different to enjoy as is. I don't own any but have tried many and I'd be fine with one one or more in the collection.

May I ask which model of GS you are mentioning?

·

Dislike them, only integrated bracelet design I like are the Oris Aquis, and I only kept that a few months.

Just not my cup of tea

·

I love being a le to swap straps, changes the watch completely

This comes with a quick release mechanism. It’s on the way with 2 rubber straps to go with the bracelet.

I love the integrated bracelet however I would not have it as a one watch collection. I like to change out the bracelet of possible and for some us who cannot afford the luxury watch it would be a difficult sale. I bought this Casio Edifice as I was deciding on a Tissot PRX. I decide to stay with this one.

you are right. some brands offer in-house straps in leather an rubber, however that comes with a price tag.

I never swapped a bracelet to a strap on any of my watches, so i doesn't matter for me.

oh yeah, the Atelier Wen watches are also pretty nice and they don't brake the bank!

looks really good on the wrist and it is something different compared to a PRX which you can see at a hand full of wrist in the subway^^

I have one integrated watch, an IWC GST Alarm, and I’m going to be selling it. They’re definitely not my cup of tea, because I really like playing around with straps and bracelets on my watches to create new looks and experiences. Integrated watches are way too confining and feel creatively closterfobic for me.

Comes down to execution imo. Baume et Mercier Riviera and Chopard AE come to mind as ones that got it right

interesting opinion, never founds someone who likes especially this two watches. Both absolutely not my cup of tea, but very special in their own way.

Integrated bracelets got me started with this hobby back in the 70s and 80s. I love them, both old and new. 🤩🍻

great to hear, I hope you kept some originals from the 70s!

Awesome collection!

The Streamliner smoked salmon would fit nicely with the Tonda and the Antarctique. :)

Well… tastes are different!

Btw: interesting choice of profile name from a German perspective ^^

that's the down side. However they are made that you don't swap the bracelet. Often so most finishing work is in the bracelet, so a simple strap would be decrease the beauty of the watch as a whole...

My big problem I have with integrated bracelets is that everyone owns the same looking watch and to me that is über boring. That being said I do think the Vacheron Constaine Overseas bracelet is stunning and really pulls the watch together, but it doesn’t have to be integrated to look amazing.

Right, with an integrated bracelet you can only wear it as the creator wanted you to wear it and as everyone else.

The easy individualization by strap changing is not given.

Lovely seeing a brand from my hometown making it on watch crunch 😳 .. still a bit overpriced for what it actually is, but it wears lovely and very light

I don’t want to get murdered for this comment but I’ve never been a huge fan of integrated bracelets. I think it’s something that’s been en vogue for the last few years and I know that there are a few that are decently good looking (VC 222 for instance) but I generally look past them. 😬
