Yes I get it. I owned a mechanical watch for 6 years until it recently died. Since then the inaccuracy of mechanical is suddenly bothering me for some reason. I would go back to mechanical — if it’s a Rolex — as Rolex appears to be the most accurate while maintaining the mechanical heritage.
Great post. I too switched from mechanical to quartz. When my trusted fossil automatic watch stopped working after 6 years of heavy use, the reality of owning a mechanical watch became evident— it’s often difficult and expensive to find someone to repair them.
Whereas with a quartz it’s a matter of installing a new battery or a minor repair that you can do yourself. I love the low maintenance of a quartz.
