Seiko 5 movements

Question for the hive mind.

What movements have Seiko 5 had in them?
I've set a target for myself to get them all..
So far I've 4r36, 7s26, 7009, 6309, 6319.

What others (or variants) are there?

I'd prefer to find them in the flesh rather than resort to eBay or be offered them, as it more fun that way.

Pictures are more than welcome, however I can't guarantee I won't be a bit jealous😆

I won't pretend I know much about movements other than recognising rhe numbers but I know a man who does! Gareth @GasWorks on this forum is our local guru and spends most of his spare time tinkering with old seikos. Here are ones I have bought off him ( including a Citizen eagle 7 that sneaked in)

And here's my only modern seiko 5 so far..

I wasn't into seiko at all until I started collecting.

And straight off looking at gasworks

6119 is one to look for and I've just discovered how to follow someone as well not a stalker honest😂

I started watch collecting recently, and had great respect for Seiko.  I still do.  As a vertical manufacturer, they are second to none.  However, I had a poor opinion of the NH35. This is the movement used by almost everyone, including tons of micro brands.  So I poopoo'ed until very lately.

Sure, the accuracy is less than ETA, Selitta or even the Miyota 9 series. But they are very affordable and have launched the success of so many quality micro brands.  And the Seiko 5 series has introduced so many people to mechanical watch collecting.  Now, I prefer it in my more affordable watches. It's such a wide spread standard; and it's so easy to get serviced (mainly swap it with a new one).  I have a newfound respect for it.

The SNZG series have the 7S36 variant, if you're looking to collect them all.

I have an SNZG15 with the 7S36 movement

There are a plethora of different movements in this collection, across the different decades. If you don't know him, I invite you to read this article by Arnaud, one of my compatriots 🇨🇵, on the history of Seiko5. Happy reading.👍

Some of the early Sportsmatic Seiko 5s used the 7625 movement. I have a Seiko 5 from 1970 with the 7019 movement in it. Early JDM 6139 & 6138 Chronographs were also branded as Seiko 5s so you could count them as well. Basically a lot of variants of the Seiko 6000 series & 7000 series movements were used in them.

I'm not certain if I'll chase a chrono version at least yet as it just makes life harder.

If one shows up for sale around here I may be tempted
