Serica 8315 GMT Chronomètre

Hi everybody!

I am thinking of getting myself the Serica 8315 GMT. It seems to be a great allrounder travel watch with a unique design. It houses a COSC certified Soprod c125 caller style GMT movement, case size of 39mm, thickness of 12,3mm, lug to lug is 46,5mm, 40 hours of power reserve, 200 meters of water resistance, a screw down crown and a ceramic bezel. It comes on a good looking leather strap with strong tapering from 20mm to 14mm. Price is 1890€/1680£/2023$

My two and a half negatives might be the non existent logo at 12, the price tag and the 40 hours of power reserve. Regarding the logo: In a few interviews Jerome Burgert the founder of Serica mentioned that the brand doesn't want a logo on the dial due to it's clear design language. Fair enough, but the space seems a bit empty especially when the hands aren't in the photogenic 10 past 10 position. Regarding the price: I think for not including a bracelet and using the same Soprod movement which is in the Baltic Aquascaphe GMT (for 1100) it's a bit high. It's not unfair pricing in my opinion though. The power reserve is not a big deal I just started to like having watches with long power reserves like 70 hours, which just run forever.

What’s your opinion? Talk me out of it!

The great picture is taken by James Stacey, the other one was myself when I tried it on in the Boutique in Paris in bad lighting conditions.

IT's a stunner for sure...and according to @KhronoKraze the tried and true C125 movement means that you're not getting the stem and movement issues of the time only model!

Cool and unique dial design. I kind of want one and this is the one time I'm glad I can't try it on mainly because I'm surprised by their pricing. Bit of a premium price for a Microbrand. There are so many new GMTs around $1,000 (less for caller and a little more for flyer) especially with the new GMT movements that have come out recently. Still, if you are ok with price, looks cool to me (oreo bezel?).

Definitely like the look of that!

Beautiful watch. Very unique dial and bezel design.

I don’t like is the circle on the end of the GMT hand. GMT is always an exercise in “it’s 4:30…ish” for the GMT zone, but this seems to make it even worse.

I don’t like the circle indices set so far in from the edge of the dial. Looks odd and I find it hard to un see. I don’t think I would ever get used to that.

Do we know what “Serica Swiss” means?

Otherwise, everything else is done very well.

I love this watch. Wish it came on a bracelet. Will wait to see what Serica has in store for bracelet options before I take the plunge. Hope to play around with this in hand at Windup NY in the fall.
