The Silver Fox has arrived!
43 years old, European origin, came to the US decades ago, has some wear and tear but runs well, is always on time and looks pretty good for its age. Ok, enough about me, let’s talk about my new watch! 😃😂
I’ve been after a vintage DJ for a while now and after the arrival of my brand new black Submariner Date, I felt it was the right time to add this classic to the collection. I’ve had a few “close calls” but a few details on the watches held me back, like some dial spots, overpolished cases, iffy movement performance etc.Then this showed up on a website from a reputable dealer on the West Coast and it hit all the marks: Birth year, silver dial, Jubilee bracelet, fantastic condition, and perfect timegrapher performance. No papers or box, but the price was attractive, so I felt comfortable with it, especially with this dealer’s reputation on TRF.
So here it is – the “Silver Fox”.1979 Datejust 16030. Gorgeous condition, with some “pumpkin patina” happening on the lume plots around the dial markers and hands. I was a little nervous about its size but my 6.75” wrist can handle anything from that range to about 43 at the most due to being so flat, so I thought it was ok. And indeed, it could not be nicer on wrist. Total class and so comfortable. I have several straps prepared for it. The Speedy Pro might be jealous to have another absolute strap beast come into the collection.
That’s IT now for a very long time, in this price range anyway. Final shots include the “Mount Rushmore” watches in my collection ☺

Awesome!! Love it!! We almost have the same collection but I’m missing the Rolex parts .. 😂… I say if I liquidate most of my collection I think (for today that is) you have a perfect 4 watch collection!! … also I’m known to change my mind every 5 seconds…
