I've gotten a couple bad cheaper vintage watches on Ebay, but most of the time it has been really good. Avoid india, and pakistan for sure. For expensive watches make sure you have the authentic guarantee deal that they have. I think the actually send it to someone to make sure it's authentic, and what the post says it is. Then the authenticator sends it to you.
There are a few 1940's Hamilton watches with rectangular cases. Made in USA. The usually run pretty good. The Hamilton 982 is a very reliably and simple movement.
Interesting. I have however been on a bronze kick recently. Bronze has been used in watch cases for a very long time, but used to always be plated with something else. I think it is fairly recent that non coated bronze cases have become more popular. Anyways, I just like watching bronze patina over time.
