Combining classic design elements with robust features, the Casio Duro has gained a loyal following among divers and watch enthusiasts alike. Let's dive into the details and explore what makes this timepiece stand out.

Design and Build Quality:

The Casio Duro boasts a rugged and utilitarian design, featuring a stainless steel case with a diameter of 44mm and a thickness of 13mm. The watch exudes a sturdy and masculine appeal, suitable for both casual and professional wear. Its unidirectional rotating bezel allows for easy tracking of elapsed time during dives, while the luminous markers and hands ensure excellent legibility, even in low-light conditions.

Water Resistance and Dive Features:

As a dive watch, the Casio Duro shines in terms of water resistance. It offers an impressive water resistance rating of 200 meters (660 feet), making it suitable for recreational diving and water sports. The screw-down crown enhances its water-tightness, preventing any moisture from seeping inside. Additionally, the watch features a screw-lock back and a durable mineral crystal that protects the dial from scratches and impacts.

Reliable Movement:

Powering the Casio Duro is a quartz movement, known for its accuracy and low maintenance requirements. The watch utilizes the Casio's renowned Japanese quartz movement, which ensures precise timekeeping and eliminates the need for frequent adjustments. The battery life of the Duro is impressive, often lasting for several years, adding to its overall reliability.

Functionality and Features:

Beyond its dive capabilities, the Casio Duro offers a range of useful features. It includes a date window located at the 3 o'clock position, allowing for quick reference to the current date. Additionally, the Duro comes with a durable resin strap, providing comfort and flexibility for extended wear.

Great watch in almost every way bar the size, its a tad big for me but I still love it. I added sapphire glass to mine and a new rubber strap. I am debating going down the metal strap as you probably know Islander have a custom strap.

Bravo on the crystal swap. That’s definitely one of the mods I want to get done. Maybe a tab big on you but I think you pull it off.

You kind of reminded me about the islander strap honestly. I’ll check it out. Thank you.

I have also modded my duro

The Duro is a masterpiece! Best entry-level dive watch I've found. Heck, they were being sold for as low as $11 USD not that long ago. You'd be hard pressed to find a better value. My only potential issue with the watch is the lume , but at that price and with the quality of everything else, that's not really a legitimate complaint.

Casio continues being one of the best in the biz!

Love the mods brother

Great job.

Also saw when you had it on a jewbali bracelet it looked sick. “Submarliner” 🤣

Love it.

I’ve not picked one up as yet… I don’t like the fish on the dial, and it’s not the quick-and-easy cheap pick up in the UK for some reason. The idea of modding one appeals, but it would depend on what’s available in parts I think.

It’s almost a crime not so start with this watch if your looking for a diver style.

$11 wow if it ever went that low again I would but then just to give away. One of the best for sure. They really no how to rally a cult following.

That makes sense if it not that accessible for you location wise. How much does it cost you In the UK?

60 quid on Amazon, which isn’t bad, but Casio itself offers a similar better option for slightly less atm. (A Mako lookalike quartz MTD)

Tbh it’s cheaper than I remember first seeing it for — they must have been in short supply or something last time. First time I looked one up they were closer to a hundred. They have competition from things like Lorus, Accurist and Sekonda.

The Duro was the second watch I got and I also didn't like the marlin. Which is why I got the MDV-107-1A1VEF for 65€

A year later I wish I picked the fishy version, the look has grown on me.

Here’s my Duro, this little pup went to the finals of #1wc 2023 mainly because it’s so wearable and a great everyday wearer/ tool watch.

I have put it on a oyster style bracelet and popped a sapphire in which really enhances the dial👍🏻

I would quite happily buy the entire set of colours……….

Very nice.

Gotta up grade the crystal on mine. Seems like a lot of you went for that change. Thanks for sharing your version.

That blue strap is a beauty. Perfect match thanks for sharing. Hope to see you on my future post brother.

To upgrade the crystal

The importance of sapphire over mineral crystals has taken over since the dawn of internet fora.

Sure sapphire is more resistant to scratches, but if you're really involved in rough and ready activities you should be more concerned with which is less likely to shatter.

Scratches are survivable, not so much shattered crystals.

And plexiglass looks better than both.

The new ones come without the Marlin.

Not only do I have a Duro, I am wearing mine today! 😃💪

Did You cut your nato?

I've come so close multiple times to buying this watch! You may have just pushed me over the edge. Lol.

·

I got many watches doing double duties as dive watches... but yeah, i can totally see myself getting a duro if i didnt have those or the budget...

·
Mr.Santana

Very cool watchguard!!

Love the green and orange straps. I say go for the 5th my vote will be the full blue but I also think at that point consider gettting all the color way options. Thanks for sharing you collection watchguard

I hope to here from you on future post

Cheers 🍻

Thank you Mr Santana!

I think there is no other way than getting all colors in the end. I just buy them one by one to keep the thrill going 😂.

Great post sir. I’ll see you around soon 👍

·

Did You cut your nato?

No. I have an 8" wrist. I wear the NATO on the third hole, for a firm, yet loose fit. Second hole is TOO loose / slides around too much. 4th hole is too tight, and slowly (over several hours) begins to cut off my circulation. But the third hole is just right. 👌

·

I'm hoping to snag one or 2 of these (possibly today if anyone is selling *wink wink*).

·

I've had three Duros and will probably get a fourth.

I love em, they just wear a little big on my shrimpy wrist at 44mm

If Casio made a 40-41 mm version I think they'd break the internet.

·

Thanks for the post…definitely a quality watch for the value

Image
·

I love my MDV-106, but the movement isn't anything special, even for a quartz ... with the caseback off it looks absolutely miniscule sitting in the Duro's 44mm case! 😮 I've not seen anything indicating exactly WHAT brand the movement is? It is reliable though! 👍

As far as battery life goes, I can't seem to get more than 2 years or so out of it before needing to replace. A ten-year battery for the MDV would be a good upgrade for Casio with the Duro.

Indeed it would!

Round them up cowboy!
