Just getting into work and it’s still dark outside but no worries with my trusty Pelagos the lume is amazing and makes it always easy to read.
A bit of Tool maintenance got to keep my knife sharp
Having a cuppa waiting for the job tickets to come in for the day.
Where was one for the old clock tower pigeons are getting in and making a mess. So I’ve got to go see where they are coming in and fix it Mission not so inpossible 🤣
It’s a old clock tower from 1874 sadly the clock not working but the nearby residence are very happy about that because it rings every half hour.
In we go mask on i don’t want to be breathing in pigeon shit that can kill you
Up the stairs we go all clear so far
Half way up and we are at the clock workings I always have a good look at it when I’m in
Through the old trapdoor to where the bells are
Looks like the rope has snapped on the Poley system for the trapdoor I will have to fix that as it’s a led lined hatch.
The bells bells bells!!
I couldn’t help myself I had to try then the little one is still pretty loud when you are next to it 🤣
Up to the next level it’s all been clear so far but the hatch to the next levels feels very heavy as I push it opening that’s not a good sign!
Oh no that’s a lot of pigeon shit and feathers and a few dead rotting pigeons to 🤮
But on the bright side this is the back side of the clock dial haha
And there is also old artwork/graffiti as well
A bit more
Not lets see where the pigeons have been getting in all is Secure on this level let’s keep going up
There’s your problem the door at the very top has blown off how the hell does that happen!
Up and out I go it’s a great view from the top lovely day as well
Better get that door back on before the pigeons come back
All back on let’s get back down to the clean levels where there not inches of shit on the floor and fix the other hatch
Restrung the hatch and Counterweight so it’s neutrally balanced again
The old gas light fittings are still in place it’s crazy to think that electricity was still in it infancy and gas lighting was still the most common thing when this was built
Back down all the stairs we go
At the bottom
Let’s check on the other side
The unused side is in pretty bad shape very dark and creepy
The basement
Let’s not be chicken here we go
It’s all flooded
Hope you enjoyed my morning job to fix’s some bits on a old clock tower

ARP post, says the graffiti! Second World War evidenced by graffiti. I lived in a house in Exeter, Devon, and there was a detailed tally of bombs noted, flights of aircraft, notes of “fires” and such on the wooden panels inside the cellar door and on the walls downward. Fascinating.
Loved your post, obviously!🙄

Looks like a lot of old buildings I went in at work, now retired, btw. The first instructional lab I renovated was like something out of Frankenstein. Then again it was original and almost 70 years old.
Cool watch. Nice story.
Fantastic post, enjoyed that. Thank you 🙏👏🏻👏🏻

Nice! Never made it to that part of the country while living in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire in back in the early 2000s. My family and I have a lot of fond memories of our time in England.
