Help me decide please, to PAM or not PAM

I've always wanted a Panerai since I first saw it on Jason Statham's wrist in Transporter 2 like 12-15 years ago. Something about that big purpose built look drew me towards it.

Fast forward to today, I'm in Chicago for 2 weeks so decided to walk into a Panerai boutique couple days ago and tried on the PAM00915. It has that quintessential Panerai look that I've always liked with the 9 0'clock seconds hand, sandwich dial and a faux patina lume but at $7600 it's not a cheap buy hence this post. Also, if I buy this, it'll be the only watch purchase for this year(sad, I know 😔)

Here are some wrist shots for reference

And yes, I've watched @Max's video on how he bought a PAM00915 and sold it in favor of a PAM00177 but I quite like the look of this PAM00915 and that 8 day power reserve just sings to me. Curious to know what you guys think. Should I PAM or should I hold back?

Well if this is what you want and you have wanted one for a long time id say go for it. If you buy something else you will fall out of love with it and wish that you have bought this instead. I also don't think they are going to be less expensive anytime soon so now is as good a time as ever. See if you cant find authentic secondhand versions for sale to save a bit unless you want brand new.

Definitely don’t pay full price tho. Any decent AD will shave off a couple hundred at least.

Watch looks great and you mention you’ve wanted one for ages.

The AD I went to offered a free strap and adjust the price for the tax so I guess not so bad

I definitely wanna explore the second hand market for these. Even $1000-$2000 off would be a great deal

If your AD is willing to work with you on the price I suggest it’s a simple matter to determine if it good for you. Currently have 3 in the collection and I think they all are worth what I paid for them. Good luck with your decision.

Second hand is a very good suggestion just be careful, LOTS of counterfeits out there in Panerai.

I’ve found one on watchuseek. The price is good. I managed to match the serial number on the watch to the serial on the card and stickers and found the serial on Panerai’s warranty registration website as well. I’ve messaged the seller, let’s see what happens

If you wanna PAM, do it man. I’ve also been Panerai-curious for a long time. Nothing looks or wears like one and if you’re feeling it…

Absolutely, pam it up! Pim pam patootie 🤪

If I might make a recommendation, go for an older model with an ETA- based movement - way cheaper to service.
