A little background:
This model marks the first time Unimatic has featured a 36mm case and according to the brand ". . . incorporates all of what we like best about smaller diameter watches. The case features a large dial opening with an angled rehaut; which, when combined with oversized crown and curved lugs, creates a case profile that is both comfortable and flattering to a variety of wrist sizes. Many other subtle design details combine to produce a balanced and nuanced watch, which aims to blend in rather than stand out."
Design philosophy:
The watch is influenced by mid-century industrial design. Unimatic specifically cites the works of Dieter Rams (https://www.vitsoe.com/us/about/dieter-rams) and Bavarian automobile dashboards from the '60s and '70s as inspirations.
Specs:
Movement: Sellita SW200-1
Dial: Matte black with glossy white indices. Reverse lollipop second hand. Date window at 6 o'clock. Luminous hour, minute, and second hands.
Case and crystal: 36mm. Brushed 316L stainless steel. Double-domed sapphire crystal with A/R coating.
Bracelet: Watch is delivered with both black and straw yellow TPU straps.
Unimatic loses a few points for:
Lume on the reverse lollipop. Pretty, but does not help with telling time.
Two rubber straps. Step it up Unimatic – offer a leather strap or bracelet AND a rubber strap.

Looking nice Rich, love Unimatics sterile dials! Only nigle here would be the crown a bit chunky for case, but honestly, that is not even something to make the cons lost.
Star of the show for me, that lovely seconds hand counterbalance! Pretty sure you can get stuck in watching the small white ball travelling around the black dial!

I agree. They definitely hit the minimalist design and vintage vibe of the 60s and 70s. Looks similar to hooded speedometers with the angled rehaut.

They are releasing the U5 cinque line tomorrow in their usual dial layout, so it looks like it'll be in their regular lineup.

36mm is coming back. When I first started collecting vintage, I couldn't get away from them and friends and other non watch enthusiasts would comment on how small it is. That rarely happens anymore. I think the smaller size is becoming more popular outside the watch enthusiast crowd. This watch is stunning, and not vintage. I've seen other brands coming out with 36mm and I love it.
