WATCH SELLING REGRETS in 2022?!

There comes a time in everyone’s watch journey where a watch sitting in the watch box, has not been taken out, wound or worn in a while and you start to think……. Should I sell this?! My Fortis Cosmonaut Chronograph was a purchase I made 4 years ago?
it’s a beautiful watch, perfect size for me and has executed the busy dial design perfectly! A future grail of mine has always been the Speedmaster professional ! Somewhen down the line I will get one no doubt! Can I speed things up though on the savings by selling this?
fortunately I have never regretted selling a watch. however I think if I sold this one I’d definitely regret it!!!!! Anyone else in this situation?!?!?!

It’s a good point however I’m not sure I’d get a hundred for the 10;)

If you think you gonna regret it don't sell it. You probably have another watch in your collection you can sell instead

·

Wear it for a few days. If you find yourself staring at the dial smiling, appreciating all the little details, then keep it. If the magic is truly gone, go ahead and sell it. I'm in a similar situation saving for a certain Seamaster, and eyeing what I can sell to help speed things along. I find it a shame to see watches languishing, unused in sad little rows, forgotten in a watch box.

Did you sell it?!

man that is a beautiful piece! if it is the right size and if you wear it often enough, then keep it. dont have regrets man!

Fortis quality is very near Omega. Think carefully about it.

The only way I keep watches is if they could be my only watch and I would be ok with that.

With almost 300 Watches bought and sold in the last nine years, and only having 7 at present, I am very particular. Of my seven, four are Sinns. Most I know the minute I put them on if they will stick.

If this Fortis fits that criteria, keep it and save a bit longer for the Omega

Every time I try to sell a watch, I get cold feet. I feel like I will regret getting rid of it in the future. I probably need to just get over that - its a shame to have watches just hanging around that get no wrist time.

I am currently dealing with this scenario. I have five watches currently on the chopping block, none of which are to level of your Fortis, but I can’t seem to pull the trigger. FYI, these 5 watches I NEVER wear…NEVER, but part of me feels like I’d miss them if they were not in the watch box. I‘m talking about cheap and affordable watches that won’t fetch a lot of money, so I’m not looking to cash out. I have no sentimental or nostalgic ties to these watches so I wouldn’t be losing anything that means something to me. So why can’t I pull the trigger?

I can’t imagine what you are contemplating. That Fortis is one hell of a nice watch that will most likely fetch a nice price and probably has some sentimental value to you as well. Will the lust for the “Speedy“ outweigh any potential regret for losing the Fortis? Hopefully you can come up with a way to have both of them. Good luck!

Totally agree my friend! Watches are meant to be worn for sure! To make memories! I need to where this at a birthday I think!!

I love it! It’s a perfect size! It was made in the mid 90’s! I’m a tennis coach by day and I just won’t risk wearing it at work! So then it comes to wearing it at the weekend where I have 25 watches all wanting to be worn on a Saturday!!;)

That’s such a good point! There was a reason we bought it in the first place right?;)

I feel your pain my friend!;) the absolute keepers in my collection have an emotional and sentimental tie to me and my family.
This Fortis I have had a memory yet!;)

If I'm ever in doubt with buying, I'll sit on it for three days or so before I pull the trigger, if I can't shake the idea then I get it.

I absolutely hate selling watches.. I hate selling anything!, people are frustrating to deal with at times.  I tend to wear them for a week/month to see how I feel, and if I still can't bond, it's time to admit you've bought the wrong watch and let someone enjoy it.

They're to be worn and enjoyed!

·

This is one of the best chronograph designs of vintage Fortis watches. I really enjoy the numerals and the orange accents!

·

I don't know if this will sway your opinion, but I think the Fortis is a cooler watch than the Speedmaster.  A lot of people have Speedmasters, but how many have the Fortis?  The best things in life are usually those not known to many.

You CAN’T sell this one!
