A collection keeper! SKX013

So we all know there are watches in our collections that have memories attached to them and therefore are impossible to sell !

I wear for work, I have no memory ties to it but it reminds me of the start of my watch collecting journey!
infact I blame this watch for the thousands of pounds I’ve spent since! ;)

let’s have your collection keepers and why?!?!

For me it is the Seiko Sarb017.  It was the watch that really kicked off my watch collecting journey.  I don't wear it too much anymore, but I don't think I could ever get rid of it.

After I got my first automatic, a Hamilton, I got the bug for automatic watches. When looking for a diver I was persuaded to get an orient until I found the SKX existed. Trying to convince me that I didn't really like the skx I saw loads of reviews and ended up getting this one. This was my true first automatic that I got after making some research. I even tried to sell it once and when the a potential buyer was going to buy it I knew I wanted to keep it forever. He finally didn't buy the watch and I was relieved. Now this stays as means a lot at so many levels. Even if I don't wear it so much. Also the movie "All is Lost" made a big impact in me, thus the blue nato strap here ;)

My 7002-7000 "SDS001" currently my oldest watch in the collection. Despite all the dings and nicks it still keeps good time. It is never gonna' leave coz this the very first watch I bought with my very own hard-earned dough back in 1991. That says a lot about this piece. 😉

This one isn't going anywhere.  I have owned it for 30+ years.  It was my only watch for 25 or so years.  Wore it everywhere and doing everything.  It has been through a couple of literal wars and several conflicts while on my wrist.  Lots of memory dings in this baby!

Would love to hear more about wearing your GMT-II during "literal wars and several conflicts".

Would love to hear more about wearing your GMT-II during "literal wars and several conflicts".

This one is a GMT Master 1675 from around 1978. It was on my wrist through two deployments while I was in the military. The first one was to the Middle East in the first Gulf War in 1991. The second deployment was throughout the Caribbean and South America (92-93 Supporting the 'War On Drugs'). After I got out and went to college I took a job with a defense contractor and was sent to support aircraft in the Kosovo conflict. Soon after I found myself back in the Middle East supporting an action against Baghdad pre Second Gulf War.

It was basically my only watch for the better part of 25 years. Wore it every day in every situation. Never thought twice about reaching into equipment racks etc. It has quite a few dings around the case and a couple on the bezel. It is still one of my most worn watches. I bought it second hand in the spring of '91. I only hope that I have continued the legacy of this great watch!
