I just saw a video from The Time Teller on Youtube highlighting some new Seiko 5s, new versions of the SNKs. I have to admit that I am interested, as this new version does for the SNK what the 5KX did for the SKX, except that instead of reducing the water resistance, Seiko actually improved it to 100m, along with a 4R36 movement. The list price I saw on Seiko USA was $275, which isn't horrible, If the price comes down like it did for the SRPDs, the SRPEs, and the SRPGs, I will probably add one to my collection.
What do you think? A good revamp of a classic Seiko or another cash grab?

LúmëgaudAnar is the correct spelling, and means time machine of the sun in Quenya. I've been collecting for a few years and have a decent collection of mostly budget and entry-level watches with a few...

I love the version with the bright orange hands. I'll have to pick one up at some point. You can find deals at a lot of ADs. Mimo's knocks off quite a bit if you use their discount code on the listing page.

Funny thing is I just ordered an SNKL23 to replace the SNK809 I gave to my grandson. If only I had waited, I could have put that towards one of these instead. 😀
I just watched it as well. For the price point I think it’s a good value.
These watches really remind me of the Hamilton Khaki series. They look nice, price is a bit high IMHO.

I agree that they may be a bit high at the MSRP of $275, but I think they will come down fairly soon, just like the SRPGs, SRPEs, and SPRDs.
The upgrade is nice, but it's about 6 times what the 809 used to cost? Identical design, slight spec upgrade. I think they have to knock $100 off the price to make that a tempting proposition.
I think they are a nice upgrade to the SNK8XX series, and the prices will be much lower in a few years when they are being sold on the grey market.
Take $50 to adjust for the grey market, adjust for inflation, and you are probably in a similar category with the original. And the 4R36 is a better movement. The one with the orange hands is nice, I fully agree. But there are other Seikos on my list I will have to get to first.
