Watches that vastly improved in your estimation when you replaced the strap?

My Bulova Devil Diver was the first watch purchase I made that I was actually happy with. Loved the dial, loved the bezel, loved the hand winding and second hacking, felt okay about the black rubber strap.

But I just got a (surprisingly chonky) 19mm beads of rice bracelet for it, and now it has surpassed my Seiko PADI Turtle as my favorite diver.

Anyone have a watch that really only became a fav after they swapped straps for it?

The SARB017 (Seiko Alpinist) of course. Changing the strap is the first step of any owner of this beauty...

I already have a two-tone bracelet picked out for when I finally get one~

I have a Seiko Silverwave and think a strap looks way better than the janky bracelet

What kind of strap did you go with?

I’m with you on the beads of rice. The black leather strap on the brew Oxford Retrograph is in my opinion very classy and I’ll probably change back to it eventually. But, I think the watch is on another level now that I have it on a BoR.

I Have both a leather for a more dressy look, and a cordura for a general look

What bracelet did you find that fits it? It looks amazing. My only issue with the DD is that the only model that would fit me well (41mm) has no bracelet option.

I got it from ebay. The bracelet only has straight end links, but I feel that it actually compliments the 70's vibe of the watch~

A few watches were like this but the first that comes to mind is the seitona. I really didn’t like the Oem bracelet. Tried it on a few natos, but it transformed once I put on a leather rallye strap.

If I can't change straps when I want I really don't buy it most of the time

Also, the devil diver was purchased very early in my watch collecting habit, back before I knew that I really preferred metal bracelets to anything else. I'm just glad ebay had a bracelet cool enough for the watch~

I replaced most of my Seiko bracelet with the exception of the SSK jubilee which is pretty nice and a Recraft which is fine as well.

But the rest got new bracelets.
