A discussion that's keeping us all up....or not.

This hype is going on for quit a while now. And i'm interested what we all think of this "hype"? So you can chose between 2 answers. But feel free to tell what you think of it. Is it a great strategy or the most shameless way to make money? The pic tell's it all!

Me first.

I think it's a toy! Not worth the money at all! But that's me, i have a rather straight opinion about things. Just as with the Rolex intro, sorry about that btw! Rolex is just not for me.

I liked the idea at first as there was a bit of novelty factor about it, but I’m waaaay over it now. The simple accessibility factor doesn’t sit well with me. Great if there’s a store nearby, but that’s not the case for a lot of people. At the end of the day it’s a piece of plastic with a shelf life and I don’t see any reason to make that ‘exclusive’. Good luck to them, but my hard earned will be going elsewhere.

Oh hell no, that’s ridiculous 😲

·

Not for me, and I feel bad for buyers if the watch is junk like some reviewers say.

Otherwise, go nuts. If this is your thing, then enjoy! Get swept up in it and pay a ton if that makes you happy, or wait and then pounce on a relative bargain later if that is part of the fun for you.

Omega should be ashamed of themselves, Selling garbage just to make an extra buck

As we speak 2500 euro! Oh, and 180 euro shipping costs. But you have a point, most of them are 450-1000 euro.

·

Asking prices on most of the watches on chrono are too high. Maybe the Neptune is most rare.

·

Never understood all the hate. I can understand people being upset with the availability of the watches, and the scalpers and resellers, but as far as the watches themselves, they look pretty good, they are cheap, and they caused a surge in interest from others outside of the Watch community. These watches are not going to “devalue the Omega brand” as many many people have stated. Omega is going to be just fine 😂. Anyone with eyes can see that this is a cheap Quartz replica of an iconic watch made to be colorful, fun, and somewhat attainable- not a replacement for owning a Speedmaster. The whole debacle of people getting their knickers twisted about these watches just makes no sense to me, but that’s just my two cents. Omega will keep making great watches, and Swatch will keep making cheap watches, the world goes on.

Could be, i don't know. I think they are worth.......25 euro, because of the 4 jewels.

One other factor to consider here is that these tend to fall apart pretty quickly. Adrian bought one and one of the pushers fell off in a few months. I've heard other similar stories. That's what changed my mind about these, they aren't even a good as a $150 Swatch System 51.

Yes that is a consideration, but technically that is still anecdotal evidence. I would be more interested in a wider set of data rather than just a handful of experiences. I would bet that there are far more working moonswatches than defective ones. My personal qualms with the Moonswatch comes down to the way it was released and the botched availability and heavy reselling. But we saw the same with PlayStations, Xboxes, etc. I guess it’s just the way some things are released now.

·

So far the poll is pretty close. I did not expect that.

·

I like these for other people. I don't do chronographs and I think the Speedmaster is a boomer shibboleth, so I have no personal interest beyond bioceramic. But they annoy the Moonwatch cult, so I pretend to love them.

Answer: B. Swatches are fine for that market. But I love my Omega's. The 'Swa-mega'? I think it hurts Omega a bit as their resemblance is so close. They look like they'd be found in a cereal box. Collect 'em all!

Ok sorry then🙏, but i was confused by the 50/50 score. That was yesterday also the case

·

No worries! Sometimes the order of these threads does get a bit confusing.

·

It's unbelieveble that it is soooo close! I thought for sure that there would be a big gap ....but no.
