Next purchase. CK859 or Mark XX

These two pieces have been on my mind the past few years. Several point to consider. 1. I already own 4-Omegas and 0-IWC (I do have two other pilot/flieger watches). 2. I already own 3-blue dial watches. Adding another blue seems excessive. 3. The CK is a bit more expensive, but I'll live (frugally for the next six months) if the wife doesn't find out how much the watch costs.. 4. The CK would fit better with a shorter lug length. What say you? Thanks

The omega will wear better and the movement, it's not even close. IWC might appear a bit better finished and has a nicer dial imo

·

If you wanna squeeze your budget tighter I would say get a Mark XVIII like I did.

The differences are not huge.

I looked into it, but it's a bit bit for my wrist especially the lug to lug length. At 16 cm on a good day, I try to keep everything smaller than 48mm lug to lug. Thanks

Both are excellent.

Just saying.

Omega in every way is the better watch in my opinion, and for the same reasons @7tnlyl pointed out. I think aesthetically the Omega is much better designed and way more versatile. The IWC, while a great watch, only wins in my book if you really want it's Flieger design ethos.

I say this admittedly as an Omega Acolyte, but who's BIL is enthralled by IWC. So very familiar with both.

·

I have the CK859, and what the others say is true. The accuracy is amazing. However, if you don't have a IWC, then I would consider that first.

·

I voted Omega but it's only downfall is it's a manual wind

·

Get the mark xv! Last of the English design before they switched over to the German design and still with a great movement - it can be had for a fraction of the price of both of them!

CK859. I think this is the best sector dial out there. IWC is not even close, in my opinion.

·

If you already have a billion blue dials, the black Mark XX is a great option and a total strap monster.

I’d recommend trying it on if you haven’t already - it’s very thin and supremely comfortable on my 6.5” wrist.

The omega has ag925 engraved above the hands post and i can never unsee it - the reason i never bought it.

·

I went to that Omega at the SC Plaza specifically for the CK, but they didn't have since it was discontinued.

·

I didn't know there was an IWC AD at the SC Plaza.

THe JLC control date sector can be had second hand for a similar price as the omega - and is far nicer watch. 3mm thinner, better finished movement. Honestly - almost 12mm thick for a dress watch is a joke, something i'd expect from grand seiko: https://www.chrono24.com/jaegerlecoultre/master-control-date-q1548530-belt-not-included--id31957682.htm?searchHash=d6ab25b0_rmVoTs&pos=3

Unpopular opinion:

I voted for none - although both look fantastic.

As you pointed out there is already quite a lot of overlap in your collection, so if it was me I was not buying any of these.

But I would probably prefer the better fitting watch if I could not decide which look I like better.

Good point.

Omega, and it's not even close. The IWC has zero personality, and looks like any other Low Effort Pilot's Watch. (e.g. Laco)

·

Mark xx more versatile

·

Omega clearly speaks to you. This ck is an absolute belter in my opinion. Elegant as hell, beautiful dial and it doesn’t matter that it’s manual wind. You own so many you’ll be rotating them and so winding constantly anyway.

The IWC is nice for sure. But I love the alternative

·

The Omega. Grail level great imho 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

·

Much appreciated.
