GP 38mm Copper Dial

Just pulled the trigger on this because I’ve always been a fan of GP and have always wanted a Salmon-ish type dial. I’ve yet to purchase a GP knowing that they take a dive in value but I couldn’t pass up on this dial.  unfortunately, I  Was unable to get any type of discount on it. Regardless, the watch is paid for and I am to pick it up Mid December. Just curious how bad of a hit I’ll take on the value. any thoughts?

That’s a handsome piece, and it’s probably best not to think of the resale value! There are few Laureatos on the secondary market and none with that dial.

Enjoy your magnificent watch, you have something others can only wish for!

If you like the watch, wear it, enjoy it, and do not worry about value retention. Sort of like, never look at a stock price once you sell it. I know that is easier said than done, but most watches lose money. 2020-2022 was not a normal trend and I imagine most brands will go back to normal price drops. As far as the GP Laureato, pre-covid it was a $6-$8K watch for the basic blue version, but your guess is as good as any of ours where it will go 6 months, a year from now. Looking at watchcharts, looks like 25% immediate drop is expected.

Ouch. Everyone says don’t worry about value rentention but it definitely makes me much happier knowing that I won’t lose a ton in it. Having said that, I’ve paid for the watch knowing this could definitely happen. Still extremely excited to receive it!

I know, it is easier said, but it’s a cool watch, just enjoy it and don’t worry. Resale only matters if you intend on selling it.

Very clean , nice ….

Don't worry about it. That is a gorgeous watch. GP has been rising in value recently since they went independent. That dial is fantastic and it's a great watch. Unless you are fickle, then don't worry about aftermarket value especially if you purchased the watch you really wanted.

·

That is a very very nice watch (in any dial colour, I might add). There’s a nice selection of sizes and complications too. Congratulations - Enjoy the moment when you receive it!

IMO this particular watch is currently undervalued (obviously the secondary market price disagrees with me) but meh. If you put a monetary number on the ‘joy’ receive from it, then add that onto the average secondary sale prices that you may find on somewhere like Chrono24. Asking prices do not count. Then you‘ll have your financial hit number.

Look forward to seeing some wrist shots!

This thing looks awesome congratulations

·

Really awesome, looking forward to seeing it in WRUW!

·

Beautiful dial and handsome watch! Enjoy it and don’t worry about reselling a watch that you haven’t even worn yet!

·

Incredible piece, congrats OP!

·

Lovely watch. Crushed on the color, much better looking than omega alternatives. I wish I would have one too 😎

·

I’d say probably something between 10 and 20 percent but it’s a variant that will be quite desirable in a few years. GP will be getting more recognition in the near future. Trend is going towards smaller watches again and this salmon-ish dial looks absolutely stunning. So I don’t think you’ll take a huge hit here.

Congrats on this beauty!

·

It’s certainly not going up in price once its on your wrist, but it is one of the hotter new releases and GP has steadily been gaining followers over the last couple of years (and rightfully so). It’s a gorgeous piece so I wouldn’t worry about taking too great of a hit. Like many said above 10-25% range would probably be reasonable to expect. But it’ll likely hold value there and if this isnt in production for a long period of time resale may creep back up again towards RRP. But man that dial is gorgeous. That will likely stay a classy and classic look for your lifetime and then some. Congratulation!

·

Beautiful watch, I love my one GP and wouldn’t give it up, so I haven’t paid much attention to secondary valuation. Hope you enjoy it on the wrist.

·

You can look up the estimated resale $$ of the blue and black dial on WatchCharts.

But… why dawg?! Instead, you should call a doctor because this dial is SICK! I agree with most here telling you not to worry about the value retention now. Just enjoy.

·

Amazed no discount but I'd never sell that watch. It's absolutely stunning especially in that colour

If it is a watch you will keep and wear regularly then the resale value is a moot point.

I am a big fan of this piece because of it's size, and the dial. Would love to try it on in the metal and if it still has the same pull as it does right now, I will be happy to pull the trigger.

Lovely piece and I'm sure you will be very happy with it!

Yea I have zero intentions of selling the watch and pretty sure will love it when I pick it up. Just always a bonus knowing value retention is there.

·

Uffff an amazing watch! Congratulations!

I passed on a blue one last year before they discontinued the 38mm model and regretted ever since. It was just in an other price category than what I could/should afford. LAureatos were 6 to 8 k on used market last year and they skyrocketed to 16-20k this year. Definitely not a bad investment and they now seem to keep a stable resale value around new price

I hope that’s the case! Either way, the watch is purchased and it’s mine and pray that nothing happens in the future where I would have to sell it.

Hi, hope u have recieved the watch and its all great. I'm also checking this out for my 6.25 inch wrist. Well regarding the pricing in the secondary market no one can really predict what 2023 holds. But I understand the buyers perspective to be aware of the market value. There are very few 38mm GP models and now it totally depends on the manufacturer on how they will expand this line up. And also how many copper will be available till it eventually gets discontinued. So don't worry about it. Wear it and cherish it.
