NWA: Pitzmann III chronograph
My Pitzmann III just arrived in the mail today, bracelet already sized up to my wrist and ready to wear 👍🏽
For those unfamiliar with the brand, its a small Korean micro brand, the latest model being an automatic chronograph at a early promo price of $1300. It uses the Seiko NE88 , better known as the 8R48 auto Chrono movement, and is one of the best value column wheel vertical clutch Chrono movements currently on the market. In fact, the Seiko SRQ series auto chronos cost 2-3x as much as the Pitzmann's MSRP.
Also the dimensions of the Pitzmann are great given the movement uses, 40mm case with 41mm ceramic bezel, a little over 13mm thick and 47mm lug to lug, wears pretty well on my 6.5 in wrist. Definitely has some heft with the bracelet on, unfortunately no micro adjust, like the bracelet used on the Pitzmann II sport watch.
Love the dial details and craftsmanship on this Chrono and the little pops of red color on the white enamel dial 👍🏻

This first batch of watches just sold out! I'm glad I didn't sit on ordering mine, says they anticipate fulfilling new orders by May at the earliest

Yeah I did some quick research on the 8R48 when the Pitzmann III was announced and those specs alone was enough to realize the good price value of the Korean chrono, especially compared to the price of the Seiko SRQ049 which is also a bit too large for my tastes

Loving the fact NE88 is making its way into microbrands now in numbers. Low key revolutionary there.
The one thing I'm curious about is how Pitzmann made the 3 so thin. The NE88 is reputedly quite a tall movement (7750 height more or less). 13mmish for an auto chronograph is a serious achievement regardless of the WR.

I read, their use of simple solid caseback vs a Sapphire crystal display caseback helped to slim down the case thickness

Yeah I gotta agree with you, that date window location was poorly thought out for a chrono dial, not worth the symmetry when you can't see the damn date clearly 🤔
