The Formula 1 is a classic design and a lot were sold plenty of them sat in the bottom of drawers. No idea why anyone would pay £1300 for a no watch brand adding their name to the front. I have even seen them on ebay for £3000, only a mug would pay that when the original are such a good price

I always wanted the original F1 and have nearly bought on eBay a few times but never pulled the trigger.I can feel a bit of a negative backlash on this reissue probably due to the price…I’d say the eBay prices will go up as people are maybe made aware of the original,like a reverse of the moonswatch.

Both new and old are not to my taste, but the new ones are metal body and sapphire glass so they will last longer

These have the same metal bodies (literally Tag has gone back to the same case manufacturer.) - seems to be some kind of mineral glass (has a few scratches)

For sure the new ones are a bit nicer - sapphire would be good. But why they are not £500 or so is beyond me.

It was my first watch over a hundred dollars, received as a present when I completed graduate school in 94, same year my oldest daughter was born. I wore it as a daily for 4-5 years. In the mid aughts I bought a red Formula One, had it for about a year, but lost it somewhere in Afghanistan, maybe someone stole it. I’ve been tempted over the years to replace it but couldn’t get pass the price.

About a decade ago I got it re-sized to fit my daughter. She wears it from time to time.

I saw the talking watches with the owner of Kith and his first Formula Ones.

I find the collab really interesting and exciting as my Formula One holds many fond memories and nostalgia of my youth.

However, even with my personal history I find the price to be absurd and all my excitement burst like a ballon.

I posted on the announcement that I thought the new Kith/Tag F1’s were great. The more I looked at them, though, the less I like them. The additional branding just doesn’t work to me.

As for the OG - love them. Well, mine at least 😊. Mine was dormant for a while, but I revived it last year, and am really happy with it:

I really love those. They are the reason that got me into watches. This was back in middle school when I saw couple of my well-off classmates wore them. Ofcourse back then 100 dollars was already a lot of money so all I did was drooling :(
