A tale of two tanks

I’ve been getting in to the 1970s/80s classic cartier designs with the red dial. I couldn’t resist picking up a 2021 tank must - the limited edition burgundy one. So now I have the tank Must burgundy - and the solarbeat. As they cost around the same amount - which do you prefer and why?

Love the dial on the Solarbeat. Both are great watches!

Enjoy those watches!

Cheers!

Easy for me. Don't like red or absence of indices. Do like Roman numerals.

Looking like a landslide so far!

Here is the burgundy on its own strap

one brave soldier (so far) has stood up for red. Well done @Fiatjeepdriver you free thinker!

Solarbeat, the burgundy one looks empty and unfinished to me.

Though I'd probably go this route for a red dial tank style.

Red is my color. I need more red watches. However, I don't think I can cope with no hour markers; maybe I can go without minutes.

Very nice. I’ve never seen this. Surely it’s an homage to the cartier one - but I dare say better pricing - and a nice elongated cintree / americaine style. With a bit more dial action from the small seconds.

$1400ish new for the longines. The cartier definitely has more name recognition.

·

The Solarbeat really speaks to me. I love the Roman numerals. I don't like watches that are too modern / abstract.

·

How nice would the red one be with the same design as the solarbeat but in white on red text. Maybe with a Ruby cabochon for good measure. Come on cartier - do it.

The text is white? I'd go gold for the whole traditional design, but that might be a bit much.

the text is sort of silvery - but I’m imaging white and I like it!

Solarbeat because it has markers without having to imagine their positions.

Love both, in fact i love having no indices too. But the blue cabochon vs the red dial just spoils it for me, so solarbeat in this instance
