I usually buy watches to commemorate an occasion such a birthday, father's/mothers day, anniversaries, etc. My recent acquisition was a retirement gift to myself.. Cheers!
I done anniversaries, father/mother's day, birthdays and the most recently my retirement watch. A Rolex DeepSea Sea-Dweller gift to myself after 35 years in the workforce.
It all started with my late father in 1967. We were living in Spain and he bought his and hers watches commemorating a wedding anniversary with my mom.
Two 1967 Omega's Geneve, 18k Gold with the solid Milanese gold bracelets. As a child, I used to stare my dad's watch and contemplate the beauty of it.
Unfortunately my dad's Omega gold watch was stolen when he passed away in 2004. But I still own one of my dad's watches that was overlooked during the robbery. A 1985 Radiant quartz dress watch (pick below). My sister has my Mom's Omega 18K gold after she passed away in 2005. My mom's watch was also overlooked during the robbery (Go figure!!).
Fast Forward to 1984. I went on vacation to Barcelona Spain to visit my Godmother. I was 14 years old at the time. During my vacation in Costa Brava my Godmother gifted me a Radiant titanium chronograph, blue dial, quartz that I still own (pick included) to commemorate the trip.
I think is the 1984 titanium Radiant chronograph. It was one of the watches that officially started my journey. I been on and off into the hobby ever since.
Cheers and Thank you!
