First Marathon in the collection.

Ordered this beautiful beast during Marathons Valentine’s Day sale and am pleasantly surprised at how well the 36mm fits my 7.25in wrist. It’s a little thick at 14mm but because of the short 44mm lug to lug it wears very compact.

IBeing a military watch I didn’t expect as nice of a box as it came in but I was pleasantly surprised. A few trinkets here and there too like a Velcro lume patch, spring bar tool and mini desktop clock accompanied the watch as well.

The bracelet is of solid quality and although the clasp is stamped, it’s very secure and mine takes a little bit of effort to open. The 18mm lug width is a tad annoying as it’s not a common width but thankfully the watch came with a rubber strap alongside the bracelet.

The tritium is solid and it’s nice waking up in the early hours of the morning to still see the watch glowing. I’d be curious to see how the 41mm GSAR wears on my wrist but overall I’m glad I went with this version.

Ah the MSAR...one of the best watch in my collection and one that wears surprisingly well despite its chunky look.

And about the clasp, well I have my own opinion, which as usual isn't the most popular around.

You hit the nail on the head with your take. It’s understandable that people want the most for their money but in certain cases such as this the pressed clasp makes much more sense.

I even feel that way about the Rolex 14060m. A milled clasp on that would throw off the whole watch and make it heavier than it needs to be.

Congrats on getting a Marathon. I own the 41mm GSAR with 20mm lugs and on my 16.5cm/6.5” wrist it wears smaller than I expected which I attribute to the small diameter dial sunk inside the deep bezel.

I’ve been leaning towards smaller watches lately but part of me thinks I could’ve gotten away with the 41mm version without it looking too gaudy. How’s the lug to lug on your version?

Lug to lug is 48mm which looks good on my wrist.

Thank you, much appreciated!

Congrats on the watch. I also have a GSAR 41mm. Wrist size is 6.5” and it wears really well as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you. Sometimes this watch looks smaller on wrist that it does in the picture. Funny how that works but I love it.

Congrats! I like it.
