A middle finger to scalpers.

I am not sure if this is true, but if it is, and Swatch did this for this very reason, I am in love with Swatch.

Rumor has it, that in 2 days you will be able to purchase the moonswatch online. Why would Swatch delay a launch from select stores, to online by only two days? One would be to create more hype, and most likely will be the reason (if true).

However, this will greatly hurt the scalpers who have traveled, waited in queues of over a thousand in some places, only to buy a product they can't flip for a profit.

If the online date is true, and that was the reason, what an awesome move by Swatch. 😀

Personally I'm so anti-scalpers by now. I have three things that I personally loved that scalpers have made me feel sour. First Jordan shoes (I know I know) but when you finally can afford what you liked as a teen you want it as an adult aka mid-life crisis. Second graphics cards, I love gaming and working from home made me want to upgrade my PC to something nicer like a 3080.  Again scalpers are selling GPUs for twice or three times the price. Now I finally decided to jump into the watch hobby and always liked watches and their history and now scalpers are here too LOL. I WILL not give them a dime I rather wear two pizza boxes as shoes, I rather buy a MAC for gaming or not game at all, I rather buy a Fossil watch (I actually don't mind fossil). Never ever did I thought that I was going to complain about first class problems.

the watch is great but the people made it crass.

Best news I've head since Shayla was found alive and well.

For all the folks hating on this colab...what if it was a calculated risk to pilot a new release and purchase standard for all Swatch brands to combat scalpers and the gray market? Think about it.. offer a very small release at the stores then move 95% of sales to online. They then can track initial purchase of all watches and even publish no gray market watch will be eligible for warranty... They could even institute a registration process that would require any second hand sales notify via website that they are selling a watch with remaining factory warranty.. this way folks like me can then reregister the watch...

They won't bother with all that for a $260 quartz watch.

I don’t think swatch deserves any praise for generating the hype by limiting supplies.

I have seen this also. I personally want the watch and will buy one if I get the chance. I really do not blame Swatch/Omega no one knew how huge this release was going to be. I personally thought maybe 50 to 100 ppl standing in line and half were scalpers. Never that I thought lines around blocks and stampede of ppl. Now my question: Is it hype? or people do want something with a big brand for a small price? and if this happens more often are people gonna start the watch collecting hobby?

Some people waiting in line did not even knew for what they were waiting for.  They came with a friend who wanted More than two watches. Disgusting world. My son saved a while to get one. And now he is sad….he is 13 and will get over this. But me…. I am a growing Misanthrop

But they would for a $7k mechanical Master Chronometer. The $260 quartz is the calculated financial risk.

I saw on Reddit a former Swatch employee/boutique manager mentioned that alot of the people showing up for this are not watch collectors as we think they are.. they most likely are the people that strictly collect swatch watches, and this is a very special edition to those collectors.
