I've pre-ordered the silver dial version, and I've done so because the moment I saw it, just a quick flash of it in somebody's State of the Collection video, I was smitten by its looks. It's not a replacement for a grail or anything, I just buy what I like (and don't have the money for Rolexes, nor particularly want to spend thousands and thousands on a watch anyway).

Most I've ever spent was £900 for an unworn Oris Big Crown Roberto Clemente limited edition, with box and papers, which at the time were (and still are I think) retailing for anywhere from £1,400 to £1,900. I bought it for the same reasons as the Baltic - I just thought it was stunning - and it had the added bonus that I got it for a great price.

If you wear it and enjoy it once you've bought it, your decision was justified. You won't know for certain until then, and in my opinion the price paid, and any lustful glances cast at other watches, won't change that fact.

I'm subscribed to Relative Time, Just One More Watch, Honest Watch Reviews, Just the Watch and Ben's Watch Club. But I also watch Jenni Elle, occasionally the Urban Gentry (that one can grate a bit sometimes), occasionally Federico, Bark & Jack and others whose names escape me for now. I don't have the money for haute horology, so tend to follow the content of more everyday-priced watches.

Will check out some of the others on here that I'm not familiar with - thanks, all, for naming some that are new to me.

Nice collection. I've got a few too; a Vario Empire, an Axios Pathfinder (white dial) that's my latest buy, which I adore, and a Lilienthal chronograph on which I somehow completely scratched the sapphire crystal in the first month of owning it. If I'd had the money at the time, I'd certainly have gone for the Mandala from Second Hour too.

Some of the microbrands out there are producing some beautiful pieces, with outstanding value for the specs in particular.

Hello, all.

Englishman living in Spain here. I joined this forum for some more grown-up, hopefully positive discussion than can be found elsewhere! Intro message asks what's on your wrist right now – Oris Big Crown, Roberto Clemente Limited Edition. Looking forward to being part of this community.
