Am I a Watch Snob?

These Addiesdive watch ticks every box in a time piece especially with this design cue. But I KNOW I won't wear it because it's not an automatic LOL ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜†

Nah, I can enjoy a quartz watch but manual/ automatic is far more fascinating in my opinion.

ยท

I wish that some watches with fantastic dials, cases, hands would be quartz, they would be less expensive almost no maintenance , but those only comes with in house movements or cost lots of k anyway..... don't see the problem with a quartz movement.

Imagine this โฌ‡๏ธ being a quartz , the hell with the movement, if I could have a case, dial and hands like this for less than a 1k !!! but no brand seams to be able to came with these kind of aesthetics, only the multi 10's of k price brands .... go figure.

No, you are not a snob. You know what you want, nothing wrong with that. I don't think there is anything wrong with quartz watches, but they are not what I want. Half of what I'm buying a watch for is the movement. But I know that isn't everyone.

ยท

No shame in liking quartz.

But why the LOL?

ยท

Why not look at it's sister brand Steeldive, the SD 1953 is almost the same watch (has cyclops) with a Seiko NH35. I bought their Seiko Willard Homage, SD 1970, before buying the actual Seiko to try out the case/style. Could not speak more highly of my experience with the brand, solid build and superb lume.

Quartz is highly accurate! Grab and go!

ยท

Lots of fiine watches are quartz.

ยท

@Riverside I can agree with that. There are a lot of watches that look down right amazing and can do some pretty cool things both quartz and mechanical. I guess for me itโ€™s everything that goes into the watch. A Casio A168 will do everything and anything I could ever need in a watch but pretend for a moment that it came in a mechanical optionโ€ฆ. ( yes I know the a168 is a digital watch) for me someone making a mechanical watch and to make it as precise as possible and continuous innovation and improvement is

More impressive to me that updating a chip in a circuit board. To make micro gears and drive trains with such precision that it will tell you the time within + or - a

Few sec a day it nuts, and to go as in-depth as something like a grand complication and be precise with all those gear ratios is insane to me.

Not sure what you mean, why like quartz watches?

ยท

want whatcha like and like watcha want ... no shame in that!

I do appreciate the appreciate the "no-fuss-no-muss" convenience of a quartz piece and think that Addiesdive watch is VERY nice! I'd wear it fer sure! ๐Ÿ‘

$40 though... That's cheap.

They make them in automatic.

You could probably find a quartz watch that looks like that but the subdials won't move hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh @foghorn aka Jeff - I know there's no shame in liking quartz. I have a handful of them in my collection and with aesthetics/design cues that I love. Unfortunately, after purchasing these pieces having a short feeling of the honeymoon phase these watches never seen any wrist time at all. So, with the initial question "Am I a watch Snob?" I never thought I was and considered myself to be a watch enthusiast. But, after thinking my experience with quartz watches, how they feel on wrist and how they perform visually - I straight up can't rock them and it's got to be an automatic/mechanical with that smooth ticking second hand. Which may constitute me as a watch snob. That's why I'm laughing out loud hence the LOL. Thanks for the comment. Stay Thirsty My Man ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿฝ

You're correct! I have a handful of Steeldive watches unfortunately I don't have a single Addiesdive. I wanted to see and experience this sister LOL ๐Ÿ˜‚

100% I'm infamous for saying "ROCK what you LOVE ... Buy what you can afford!" Unfortunately, I've got way too many similar watches like these that are automatic and I know I won't wear it. Cheers mate ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿฝ

There's nothing snobby about your train of thought. I prefer an automatic myself. Battery changes can be a pain. Yes, mechanical watches should be serviced. I mean let's be honest, an NH35 will run for a decade then you swap the movement.
