Any suggestions?

I have a dilemma. Ever since I bought my explorer 36, it has killed off my other watches, I just got rid off Bb58 because it was not getting any wrist time at all. I thought I could be one watch guy but that is not to be. Now I am thinking of getting one of the following:

1- speedy

2- seamaster 300

3- zenith chrono

4. Cartier Santos

I am not sure about chronos how long the honeymoon will last, Santos seems too dressy, seamaster seems sensible but the bracelet is a massive turn off.

Any advice on what will play nicely with explorer 1?

Wrist time?

Ah, I see, they can be worn?!

I thought they were for display purposes only. 🤔😁😂

I can only comment on the seamaster 300. Great watch. I actually like the bracelet

Seamaster 300

Got the heritage, bracelet very comfortable but often wear it on a NATO, a Staib mesh and just got a Komfit (will post about that later)

The seamaster 300 looks great on the rubber strap, have you looked into that? Also as you mentioned Cartier is a bit too dressy and the explorer can be a dress watch if you dress it up.. you get what I mean. If I were to be in your shoes, I would go for the seamaster or the speedy. Best of luck to you!

The Santos is extremely versatile. I wear mine almost daily. I think the contrast with your explorer will work well. Black vs white dial, polished vs brushed, Santos also comes with leather strap etc. so I think that will complement your watch quite well.

The SMP is a great option on rubber if you want to go in the complete other direction.

I have both of these and love them equally. So I won’t choose one or the other for you but both are excellent options.

Never understood the “dressy” aspect people consider the santos. It’s full brush with a polish bezel with visible industrial appeal, I feel like it gets thrown into the mix with the rest of its cousins as dressy. But thats just one owners opinion. I feel like it’s a very well rounded watch.

This is called “watch angst”. Worrying about all of the watches you could be wearing while wearing a damn nice watch.

It happens to me all the time!

Not sure this bit of advice is helpful but I actually own all 4 of your potential watch purchases, good choices, too frugal to switch the bracelet on the SMP for the mesh or bracelet, instead I am researching another watch. Should I buy a Rolex Explorer? The 36mm does recall the Rolex watches that I sold off back in the 80s when I wanted some complex movements in my watches.

I can share with my wife, seems to be a trend these days. Thx. The sales agent called a few days ago. Lots of Rolex watches suddenly are for sale.
