Too much heat?

I went to a child's 6th birthday party this weekend and two of the parents/grandparents were rocking so heavy heat! Is a platinum Daytona and a panda Daytona too much action for a kids birthday party!? Haha only asking because I'm jealous

·

No! That was just a picture I pulled off line for reference. I wouldn't have been surprised tho. He rolled up in a Rolls Royce also haha

·

Anyone wearing a platinum Daytona is automatically invited to my party! 🤣

·

If you got it, wear it!

Me too! I don't have anything like that except my Pagani Design homage! 😂

·

It depends on how well-behaved the children are.

·

Well wait till you do it someday man 😎

·

Wear your watch whenever you want.

Honestly, given it's a kids bday party most people have no clue or don't really care 👍🏽 it's not like he's flexing to all the kids eating pizza and playing games 🤣

For sure. The only person who noticed or cared was me.

it might just be someones daily...what is the big deal? Most people (other than us watch geeks) would not even notice..JMO enjoy the hobby

Certainly a non-zero chance they were reps.

If they were reps fair play to em but I don't think so. It was a birthday for a private school kid and like I said the grandpa came to the party in a Rolls Royce Ghost

What happened to the good old days when a G-Wagen would be enough at a child's birthday party?

Love it

Love this haha. I often feel like in showboating but then I realize it’s just a watch and I do love my tiny shiny objects. No one needs to know I ate only top ramen for an entire year so I could afford this 😂

Definitely a good perspective.

Coming from little to no means seeing someone wearing a small hatchback on their wrist can rub some folks the wrong way. Not everyone is gonna like it but you worked hard for it so go ahead and shine

Doesn’t it sting when people don’t love to see you shine. Especially if it happened at a kiddos b day party! I remember when I started collecting years ago that I actually lost some “friends” over it 😂 like whaaaaaaa. It’s good to celebrate the win, epically in small hatch back on wrist forms.

·

My theory is if you want to FLEX and go for it!

·

Doesn't matter.

I didn't know you were meant to stop and think, "Oh, this is a child's birthday party, so I'd better not wear a watch I like wearing..." I mean, really? That's a thing? Surely not.

Does it also apply to the car you drive there in? Your shoes? Anything else?

No absolutely not. You wear/drive whatever to wherever you're little heart desires! I was simply posing the question. At the end of the day a watch is a tool, right? Some cost $25 and others $250k. As someone who doesn't "have it like that" I can't currently wrap my head around wearing a six figure watch just daily as a tool to tell time. I currently wear a $500 watch for that, one day if I work hard enough I may be in his/her shoes.

OK, so the setting of the child's birthday party isn't really important to the story; you would presumably feel the same if someone wore a watch like that to some ten-pin bowling, or washing their car on the driveway, etc? I guess it's just one of these things. We have people post here who are plumbers, wearing their Submariners while up to their elbows in crap. It's entirely normal for them to be doing these things, not really a flex for them at all.

·

You should see their nice watches 🤯

·
got_time_1

But did you see anyone with this?!?!

Once you bring out the Invicta, game over. Nobody does over the top shock and awe designs like they do. Many should be classified as eye hazards and unsuitable for viewing for anyone with a cardiac pacemaker.
