Considering taking the Grand Seiko faith fall…any GS fans out there?
Need a daily all-around and leaning quartz (nice to have a low-maintenance option with minimal hassle). I’m convinced on the longevity and quality of the 9F movement (in fact, it’s a plus for me here). I am curious to know if the finishing and quality down the line is as great as everyone claims. Also, an excuse to enjoy all of the great GS photos I hope will follow below. Cheers! 🍻

On the Japanese manufacturing side definitely cannot do any better than Grand Seiko. But think about this. Are you after functionality and then form or are you about one or the other? Why spend the money when you can get functionality and form in a cheaper form factor and still stay Seiko or a Japanese manufacturer. There are also a plethora of smaller brands as well that would buy for your affection and your business. Consider that for the moment
I recently needed a watch for the same reasons. and also just wanted to get into grand seiko. so a few backs a went to my AD and walked out with a SBGN003. it is now my grab and go daily watch. i never realized how attached id be so be so attached to a quartz movement.
@roberto I was about to write the same comment about WatchFinder. Great Video. @horolawyer2022 I hope that helps. BTW, These GS are usually available on the ADs so it is relatively easy to see it in the metal and try it in person.

I have held and tried on that very watch and I'll put it this way - run, don't walk, to get one. It's astoundingly beautiful, and the 9F is the greatest movement that too few people talk about.
I don't own a quartz GS as of yet but I am weakening...
Do you want a daily watch to have lume? Very few GS models have it. Something to think about if you want versatility vs just a straight up dress watch.
I love GS. I have 3 Hi-beat, 2 spring drive, and plan on buying a 3rd spring drive. Thought I would NEVER be interested in a GS 9F.
Then a buddy of mine got the SBGV238. Let me wear it for a bit. Now I can't stop thinking about it.

9F quartz is far from any normal quartz we know, from the accuracy to the decoration, it's a very good movement.
I am absolutely enthralled by GS (Spring Drive only), but for me it's not for it to be a daily/accuracy watch. Yes, it could perhaps serve that purpose, but purely for "accuracy" and "maintenance free", I opted for a Casio G-Shock GW-B5600BC-1B because of the Bluetooth sync (or radio sync if you're in a region within range) and solar powered - probably as accurate and maintenance-free as it gets. It does look nice but I generally wear it as a beater, and keep it around in case for any reason I need perfect time which is ready to go at a moment's notice.

Yeah, man! It's out of this world gorgeous! It's steel and 18k gold! Unfortunately, it's a limited edition of 600 pieces, and I think they may be completely sold out at this point.
Agree with other posts that while there are a number of very good quartz watches out there, the GS quartz is truly special. My GMT is in my daily wear rotation and is a go to travel watch.
Honestly, I have had a few and still have the Lake Suwa but they are priced where they should be, if not overpriced now. The spring drive is amazing and I would recommend that if going with GS. Their case designs are average (1/2 their catalog is horrible), bracelet has no 1/2 links and usually doesn’t fit perfect, the dial is great but then only up close so you’ll be enjoying those fine details alone in the right lighting. If you are in the sub-$5k I would also consider a used JLC, Nomos, Tudor, or Omega. Not to deter you from GS, I do enjoy mine, but they aren’t the underdog that some make them out to be.
Here are a few pics for you to enjoy. I love Grand Seiko and especially love the 9F85 movement. You would be hard pressed to find a better everyday watch in my opinion.
