A watch for our fifth anniversary

If you have experience with this beauty, please share.

I want to get a watch to commemorate our fifth wedding anniversary. It is most important to me to have a durable watch that will last a long time. But I wonder if I found beauty and durability in the perfect package.

I would also love to hear other suggestion meeting a few requirements:

Under $800 (used is fine)

Long lasting

Hard coating for scratch resistance

Preferably green

40mm or less

5atm or more

Light so I don't get tired of it

I haven’t tried this one on yet, but have you considered the Tissot PRX? It’s having a moment in the watch world right now and checks all your boxes. Comes with both Powermatic 80 and quartz options — each under $800.

The PRX is definitely on a short list with the Seiko! But does it have the hard coating for high scratch resistance? I didn't notice if it did. The only reason I wanted the Seiko over this on was Seiko used a special coating. But if the PRX has it, it's an easy win.

Ah, I took that to mean a preference for a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Wondering if that coating is specific to Seiko? Either way, if that’s a concern, the point for that category might need to go to Seiko. You’ve got some good options though!

I don't own the standard model, but I own the GMT version of it.

The watch case is super comfortable on the wrist, mine is 42mm with 49mm lug to lug but wears more smaller because of the angled lugs. The 39mm standard version would be no problem even for people with small wrists.

Great dial, the green plays nicely with the light. It appears black under most lighting conditions, the green only pops under bright light. Keeps up the versatility. 100m WR, 20mm lug width so you got plenty of options for strap changes (definitely get a straps to make it more versatile). Good lume, plenty on the hands and dotted on the hour markers...it has a good balance. You get diashield coating on this presage model and you barely pickup scratches, from 8 months of regular use I have only few hairline scratches on the clasp from desk which barely is visible.

The bracelet is good, one of the better ones from Seiko. The drawback maybe clasp which is small with two micro adjustments but personally I like it rather than a longer clasp for a neat look. You get half links so finding right fit wont be a problem. You can pick this up for around $800 or lesser from an AD. If you are looking into online then try Gnomonwatches.com, they have it for $760 with additional discount.

Other watches in the same price range and similar would be Tissot Gentleman. Similar price, overall a good package. Its 40mm but does wear slightly larger because of a more flat case but still works for smaller wrists.

It’s a gorgeous watch! I have the gmt version…the green is. Amazing! I also agree with @nightfury95 … this particular one wears more comfortable since is 39mm I think In my opinion 39mm is perfect size for everyday wear but that’s just me …

Here’s mine for reference….

Well I don’t own the 39mm one as well but I have the 42mm GMT!

As far as scratches go I didn’t have any problems with them (except from the ones I made when trying to put a strap on… first time and I don’t really mind those because they give the watch some personality … pics below 🙂 )

Anyway the watch is incredible but I would just remind you that Seiko has some QC problems (mine was a misaligned bezel that nowadays doesn’t bother me so much and some really small particles in the dial… most likely no one will notice it but I love looking at every single millimeter of my watch… 🙂 )

So I would recommend you to make sure that when you buy the watch everything is in place and take your time to make sure everything is alright and according to your own taste

I hope this comment wasn’t too late but hopefully it will still be helpful
