Seiko SLA063 - A Rant

So, this SLA063 initially had me, massive onset of FOMO. Limited edition of 500 units, just my cup of tea.

...

But then, wait a second...

...

- It is the same bezel they've been using for years - now. See references SPB053 SPB213 SBDC165 SLA049

- It is the same dial they had with the "Great Blue Hole" Special Edition SPB083

And of course it is the same case and bezel as with SLA049

...

To me, this SLA063 - with all this recombination of known elements is uninspired, bland, boring and lazy.

My AD will have one. The FOMO dominated 50% of me: "Here, take my money" The rational 50%, typing this post: "NO! WHY? They all look the same! They are all the same"

And yes this is a cross-post. Initially posted on my IG.

I think they vary in their movements…some SLA have spring drives…

·

Are they all 6R or are some of them 4R?

Outside of Grand Seiko spring drive is with the LX line and 3 dress watches. All from the SNR reference numbers family. Afaik there's no SLA reference with a spring drive.

But you're right the SLA line typically has the 8L35 movement and not a 4R or 6R movement.

Yes your right, my mistake…it’s the SNR line I was referring to but you never know with Seiko they might just make one soon enough 😉
