When Wishes Become Reality

By now you guys would know I am a huge Bond fan - Who isnt? (except the Woke ones perhaps) - It was just before the release of No Time of Die when I had seen the Omega Seamaster NTTD watch & there was something about it that just screamed "Perfection" - I wanted to see if that feeling in me keeps growing or not because I never buy watches beyond a certain price point on impulse as tempting as it may be at times

Flash forward to November last year - I was flying to Saudi for pilgrimage & on my stop over at Qatar airport I walked into Omega store & tried this watch - and it was truly 'love at first wear' - but I decided to wait and see if I am 100 percent certain about this watch.

And then started the endless scrolling of sites and windowshopping at stores looking for a better deal on this watch - My friend @gmtminx also said this watch is literally "made for me" and that it suits my personality - thank you for being there & confirming to me that it was indeed my grail watch - Finally here it is - Just got it yesterday and the best thing is that I got it with both straps - Nato as well as the mesh bracelet - I intend to wear it as a daily watch on mesh but wanted to post some pics with nato too as it looks equally beautiful

Share your experience with this watch? Or your grail watch buying experience - For me for now this is my "expensive watches exit watch" - My personal holy trinity of brands was Rolex, Cartier and Omega and this watch completes it

I agree that this is the perfect Seamaster and have been lusting over it since seeing it online and trying it on at the AD. A bit of a stretch for me to purchase right now, but I'm putting my pennies away for a significant birthday in 2 years. Then we'll see how it goes. Congratulations and wear it in good health!!

·

Here's my Grail, got it three years ago & love it more everyday!

Pictured as "what Connery should have worn" 🤣 note the strap is too narrow just like SC's.

Took a few years saving to get it & I bought it blind, so was pretty disappointed when it arrived!! But given time it's quality and character shone through. Love it 😀

Suits your personality? A womanising, sophisticated psycho? 😎 Excellent 👌🏻👍🏻

thats a gorgeous one - and yeah I love this nato - I wear my SKX007 mostly with that nato only - amazing one

The watch is fine af, too bad the movies after Skyfall are extremely mid at best

·

I agree - 100 percent - plus no matter how much the 'expert analysts' say its the right thing to do, letting Bond die at the end makes no sense in any universe 🤦🤦🤦

Don't remember seeing a body so he didn't die.

If Batman survived a nuclear blast at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, I think Bond can survived a little missile salvo. 😂

Great watch btw, I'm on the hunt for something in that family too.

Of course he survived - otherwise how else would they make 30 other movies - my point was that letting people leave theatres on the sombre note where they didnt show one glimpse of him being alive such as a bubble coming out of water, or someone picking up a phone etc was not a smart move

Was about to like the post and make a nice comment but the reference to woke people is unnecessary and aggravating

I got mine a couple of weeks back:

It still feels extremely special everytime I put it on.

(40 missiles aimed at James Bond and his supposed toxic masculinity might not even be enough in the minds of the aforementioned tribe. Who knows? May be the next movie will showcase a Netflix-style kind of hero. Curious to see how that’s going to do on the box office 🤔)

I hope to own this watch one day. Definitely a high price tag but worth every penny in my opinion. I have the 2220.80 and wear it daily so the hope is to one day be able to have both on rotation.

I don’t really see that movie as a turn in the franchise. I don’t think the later movies were particularly bad or “woke” as you put it. I wish the MOD had stuck to their guns and kept all that fake crap off the watch. Tying this Seamaster to a franchise did it a disservice. It stands on its own merit as a fantastic design with solid specs. In 20 years it will be remembered as being a bit of merchandizing not as the fantastic example of watchmaking that it is.

to each his own - and no i never said later movies were woke - Thank god they were not and i hope that never happens - may be u misread something

I agree - I was thinking today that this is a big problem - what am i supposed to do wirh my other 42 watches 🤣🤦

·

Congrats. Always loved the vintage color on this watch and the fact that there is lume on the bezel too, which the standard 300m version doesn’t have.

Love this is bond dead discussion. Bond could be dead. The movies aren’t chronological - casino royale is the “1st” and it’s from Craig. So Craig’s bond dies. The next could be set before he dies. Rumours going round that Nolan has been asked to direct 2 and that he’s only interested if he can do young bond before he becomes 007. Who knows if it’s true but hey, interesting.

Also another take they could do is the bourne route. James Bond 007 is a code name, so all these actors who have been bond are all different men. As a big fan of bond myself, have read all the novels, have seen all the films etc, this would take the series in a new direction of course but it’s an option I guess

·

I rejected this piece when presented to me when it was released because the no date was a deal breaker.

But nowadays I feel I should have.

Actually that was one of the things that attracted me to this dial - somehow due to the color of accents and overall beauty of it i felt if this particular model had a date it would have ruined the balance and symmetry - thats why i loved this one even before ever thinking of buying

I understood that later. Initially I felt composed by functionality more than aesthetic. I changed it seems !

And about the latter part - Bond being the code and anyone cud be that Im afraid thats not true if we stick with Ian Fleming's vision - Remember the entire character isnt based on a number 007 - its on James Bond - And Bond has a history (an orphan, whose parents graves were shown too) - so ofcourse they can take cinematic liberties to replace the actor as many times as they have done previously too however they cant say the new person has a completely different past or a name hence a dofferen story - its like Batman - Bruce Wayne will have to remain Bruce Wayne no matter who plays him however many times - I think the route that franchise should take is to show the beginning of Bond - much like the continuation of Casino Royale or even the events that led up to him being in MI5

There's always the right time for things - perhaps now is the good time - coz if you buy pre-owned this model has a better discount - as much as 2.5 grand in some cases if you are lucky - with papers box etc - I suggest looking into it now because the minute new Bond movie comes they will discontinue this specific model ▪︎ and then the value of these watches my go up

Yeah that’s a fair point. I wasn’t saying they should - just that they could. I agree, I think taking it back to the beginning is the right choice. Craig’s final outing can be the final piece in the timeline, we could have unlimited stories that slot in and around the existing films and books. :)
