Homages. Yay or nay?

I love the blue dial and simple clean layout. But I can't afford the glashutte by a long long way. So this is as close as I will get

Seestern homages look amazing. I'm also tempted to buy if only they could make one without a signed crown—which is a friggin starfish!

Looks tacky, but Im really tempted

I say go for it! Looks great. Don’t let the whole homage discussion get to you. My Pagani Design speedy homage sits next to a Glasshütte Senator in my watchbox and I am very happy with both. Sometimes you can or want to spend more on a watch, sometimes you can’t or won’t. Both options equally OK.

I'm pretty much a tight ass so the seetern is as much as I'm willing to spend 😂. But I really do like it.

unless someone is a watch nerd they have never heard of GO and would never even recognize it’s an homage. While some might look down on homages at the end of the day you are the one wearing it. If you like it buy it.

·

Seestern makes some serious quality watches for the money. If you're never going to afford the GO, I'd say go for it because this is as good as it gets. 👌

·

Endless debate on homages,& even what a homage is..

If it makes you happy then go for it, life's too short 👍🏻

Ah, the “What do you think of homages?” post - the most regular clock in the universe.

Apologies for the repeat and repeat and repeat post

One of my personal rules that has worked pretty well in my own life is that you only can control your own actions, how others regard you might be something not in your control. I have no issues 110% with homages, after all a watch is just a watch. However in my many years as a avid watch guy, I have never met a person who was genuinely happy owning/ wearing one. I would rather spend whatever budget on a watch of original design. Years ago when my disposable income was modest, I hunted for interesting older watches to scratch my watch itch. They were not good enough to be called vintage but definitely real. Additionally the GO is a terrific watch but the design remains not a personal favourite but I am not you, you are not me. Good luck. ❤️

Clomages of unattainable watches are fine. Sometimes boring, but you can always save up for something affordable and original, if your taste changes.

More than likely I won't be purchasing it anytime soon, so my mind will probably change. Just thinking out load, no one else will listen to me , so this is my place to geek out 😅

If branding is important to you (which is absolutely fine and doesn’t mean you’re a snob), don’t settle for a homage. But if you don’t care for branding, then a homage is exactly your cup of tea. Some homage brands can give you similar (or even better) specifications than their muses.

I usually confer with my long suffering wife who is pretty good with advice but seriously you remain your best source. I have a good friend, successful man but just too practical to pay for a Panerai, bought a top quality fake ( not homage) for around 1k cad, crazy money never wears it after the first days. However a fake is not homage so it is a different discussion.

Nothing thing wrong with a good homage watch!

I'm single so I keep arguing with myself, and still don't know what to do. Do that's why I'm here 🤣

I miss the single life, wife probably misses it more than me! Have a great day!

I find that pretty well all watches have elements of other or more iconic watches in them. So in a way, nearly all watches are homaging something else to one degree or another.

In the end it boils down to, "my wrist, my rules"

😁

I say go for it. I don't have an issue with homages. On my watch journey I would like to get a luxury watch eventually and sometimes getting an homages gives me a so called "test drive"... Asking the question "What would I be willing to spend for that Grail" Example.. I love the Rolex Explorer II can afford one right now? No.. I bought this Peter Lee to see if maybe the Explorer II is what really want or lust.. so far it's what I really want. Buy what you like and enjoy the ride..!
