OCD disaster
So, after many years of "getting away with it" I've finally managed to put a scratch on my SKX crystal.
Yes, it's tiny.
No, it shouldn't bother me.
Yes, but it does.
So, after swapping the 7S26 for an NH36 a while ago (The 7S26 ended up in a watch I was refurbishing for @Scooby ) and swapping the crown at the same time I now have the excuse to replace the crystal.
The question is - what do I swap it for (a crystal obviously; not an onion or sock). It will be sapphire (that just makes sense) but; domed, double domed, flat? Clear AR, Blue AR??
Just wondered what the WC concensus would be... not that I'll take any notice... I'm just curious 🤔 😁

I'm a preferred DD Clear AR guy, but that's me. You do what makes you happy.
As a purist and occasional UN-modder, I'd suggest OEM Hardlex. 🙄

I would say as close to OEM as possible with single sided AR.

Flat, clear AR or mineral glass. I'd keep it close to the original.

Don't know if they make them actually, but that way you can just Polywatch any future scratches out, or leave them 😉.

If I was a good boy I'd use Cerium Oxide and try and restore the hardlex but, although I wouldn't change the dial, hands, bezel as I think they're essential to the SKX look, I will upgrade to Sapphire in the same way I've swapped the movement. Its still an SKX, just a hacking, handwinding SKX... Soon to have a nice piece of Sapphire.
Hi I put a double dome on my Orient ray 2 and a single dome on my Orient Mako xl they’re both cool and lift the overall look of the dial, if I had to choose I think the single dome it’s more subtle and refined I think. Here’s photos of them both
