Hamilton in the Movies

I was at our local jewelry shop looking at Hamilton watches. The sales guy said that Hamiltons have been in over 300 movies.

I have to admit I'm not a big movie guy but I've heard of the "Murph" that was in a movie I never heard of before. I'm wondering when he says they were in 300 moves...are these movies where the watch had a major impact on the story line or just happened to be seen on briefly on a character's arm. I know there have been lots of shirts and trousers in movies too but I'm not sure that they are marketed for being seen in a movie.

Tbh, the most memorable moments in the movie history involving watches are like one from back to the future... And Apollo 13, and none of them feature a Hamilton.

Yes, the Ventura will attract some attention. My wife puts MIB reruns on the TV but I don’t pay that much attention so I never saw the watch make an appearance.

How have you not heard of Interstellar. And there were 2 Hamiltons in that movie. The watches played prominent roles. The Murph was created specifically for that movie. 🤯

By the way the new Indiana Jones movie has a Hammy in it. I'm not sure if it was created for the movie or it's a reissue because of the movie. I sure someone will correct me.

I’m not a big sci-fi fan so most likely I never saw it. Or I just didn’t remember it, which is also possible. Back when we rented VHS movies I would often bring home a tape and my wife would tell me we already saw that one…so I pretty much quit choosing movies to watch.

My wife is a Harrison Ford fan so I’ve been told I’m going to see the new Indiana Jones movie this weekend.

The Boulton has a long history of being reissued.

Hamilton also made the watch in 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Interestingly enough he wears a QUARTZ Boulton.

The quartz version didn't exist in 1969 ,the year the film is set in.

They do seem to be everywhere in movies, it's probably about right

Man Interstellar is a sweet movie! I would definitely recommend you watch (no pun intended) it! The watch definitely was integral to the movie! And I recently saw the “Murph” on the Hamilton website.

They've certainly been important to the plots of some Nolan movies. Maybe he really gets into the spirit of the brand partnership? In Tenet, the watches serve both as important contextualizing tools to help the viewer know what's going on (it is a complex time travel movie) and as prominently-featured in-movie tech that helps build the world.

Outside of his stuff, I'm not immediately remembering cases where the watches played a significant role. But I'd argue that costuming itself is nearly as important as plot to making movies work, and sometimes such non-story elements - like action choreography, etc. - can be even more important. To this point, I couldn't retell the convoluted plot of Tenet without looking it up, but when I think of the vibe of the movie, virtually the first things I think of are those watches.

Hamilton is on the wrist of Indiana Jones in the latest movie. Not sure how much it features.

And it's a quartz which didn't exist in the year the movie was taking place.Good job propman.

They've been in movies since the 30s and I believe in over 500 to date! Was originally an American brand which was bought by the Swarch Group. I was fortunate enough to be their Canadian guest (every brand manager from each region was allowed to bring a guest) to attend their Behind the Camera Awards in Hollywood last year. It's worth noting that they do not pay to be in any of these movies. The costume designers and prop masters seem to favour the brand as they're very willing to work with or even create a watch specifically for a movie like Interstellar.
